Today in the school

I attended a special mass celebration early today in the school where my kids are. It's an annual mass celebration for Catholic students in the school and parents and carers were invited as well. It was celebrated by Father R. Paras our Filipino Parish priest in St. Aidan Catholic Church, Rooty Hill accompanied by Father Felix also from the Philippines. One of the highlights of the celebration was the giving of the Scripture Certificates to the Catholic graduating students before the mass came to an end.
All the Catholic Kinde kids were all dressed up for the said celebration and David was dressed up as Joseph. Thanks to their Scripture teacher who provided the costumes and for taking care of everything needed. All the Kinde kids were taking charge in the offering part of the mass with the Scripture teacher as their guide. Unfortunately, I was not able to take pictures of David because I was sitting at the back and can't get a good view of him. I just took one picture when the mass was about to end from my mobile phone, at least I have one to share with you because I didn't take my camera with me. I forgot about it.

Camera Critters-Birds

My Camera Critters for this week are some of the birds in Featherdale Wildlife Park. These were taken during our last visit. But I am not sure what's the name of each one . I was not able to get it as I was busy with my camera and looking after my kids.:)
Featherdale Wildlife park is 45 minutes west of Sydney and about 10 minutes drive from where we live. The park showcases one of the world's largest and diverse collection of Australian native mammals, birds and reptiles.

Sky Watch Friday

This was last Wednesday the other week. When I woke up in the morning and went out the back door this was the scene up in the sky that caught my attention, cotton balls of cloud were all around. And the sunset on that day was not bad at all.

I was just lucky enough to see all of these in a day.

Last night dinner

I made garlic bread. I just bought bread stick and spread a mixture of melted butter with finely cut fresh parsley and a generous amount of minced garlic. Rolled up with aluminum foil and stored in a freezer for awhile before baking it to the oven.
Our dinner was a serving of slices of garlic bread, steamed vegetables and baked fish wedges.

I just hate myself sometimes....

One Sunday, we decided to visit Wasco Siding Train Park in the lower part of the Blue Mountains. It was my sister who introduced me to that place since she knows very well that my kids especially David loves train rides, big or small and diesel or steam. Few days before the day came, I checked out the website to get more information about the place and its location. I was then aware that one of the conditions to get a ride of their miniature trains is to wear an enclosed shoes.
When the day came, I woke up early, packed lunch and prepared some of the things we need for a picnic because the place is also ideal for a family picnic and besides we were planning to spend some time there. When we arrived, it was hubby who noticed the conditions of the train ride on the board at the entrance and pointed out that David's footwear was not the right one to go for train ride. I nearly choked the biscuit I was eating for I know very well beforehand that that is the rule. I hated myself for forgetting the most important thing for that trip.Grrrrrr, to myself.. We drove a good distance from home to get to the place and in the end the kids didn't have the ride that they had been waiting for. Part of me wanted to go home but thanks to hubby despite of what happen, he even suggested why not staying as the kids were beginning to enjoy watching the miniature trains. I lost interest in taking pictures around the place too .That's why I don't have pictures to go along with this post. Dorothy didn't even asked for a ride even if she wore the appropriate shoes. I was just glad that David was so good that he never get upset nor whine, but instead just enjoyed watching the miniature trains running around. He understand that mummy being so busy preparing for the trip forgot his appropriate footwear to wear for the ride. We promised him that the next time the park will open we will definitely be there again.

Splash, splash!!!

We sweltered through a scorching Sunday as expected with a temperature soaring up to 41 'C in our place. It was really hot. We decided not go out and just stayed at home. But later in the day a friend of ours rang and invited the kids to come over for a swim with her kids and other kids as well. It was hard to resist with the hot temperature like this, the pool is a good place where to beat the heat. So off we went to have a swim in the pool. David

Camera Critters-David's Guinea Pigs

My 6 yr old boy, David, has guinea pigs as pets, Brownie and Lucky, a female and male pair. This is the second time that Brownie has babies. This time she has 4, Sisy, Susie, Blackie and Maxie, 3 female and 1 male. The first time she had 2 babies only(both female) and we sold them to the pet shop when they were big enough.Brownie

Mild Chicken Curry

This is our first mild chicken curry cooked in a slow cooker. We wanted something different for a change at that time and we thought to try chicken curry. However, hubby and I are not big fan of strong flavor and we wanted it just mild and kids friendly too, so our kids can enjoy it with us.There are many recipes in the internet I found out when I searched. Only, it is hard for me to decide which one to try. The thing that there is several ingredients required in recipes that don't use curry paste is a bit of a turn off yet it is something also interesting because I am not quite familiar with some of the ingredients and I feel I wanna check it out in the shop myself.While we were shopping one day, hubby came across to this packet size, McCormick Slow Cooker Mild Chicken Curry Recipe Base, and showed it to me. Upon reading the ingredients and procedure, I found out that it is dead easy and quick to prepare with only few ingredients to be added, therefore, a lot of time saving in the cooking preparation, only the cooking process takes longer as it is intended for slow cooker cooking. I bought a packet and tried it with breast fillet chicken cut into cubes, onions, potatoes and coconut milk added accordingly. We had it with jasmine rice over dinner.

From the garage sale

I always like to go walking everyday most especially in the morning if weather is fine. It was Saturday and my daughter just came back from her tennis lesson so I invited her to accompany me and I got a yes reply from her straight away. I thought she would rather like to rest than go out with me. I was so glad then. And while we were walking, we passed 2 houses that were on garage sale and people were rushing in to the houses. Garage sale here happens mostly on weekend, most on Saturday and some on Sunday. When we made the last turn toward our street, there was another house having a garage sale from furniture, kitchen utensils, kids toys and books and many others and even a balloon was purposely tied up at the post box to attract people that something was really going on. I saw some people heading in to the house too so I told my daughter why not we take a look and she agreed. While we were there , something caught my daughter's attention, the cute doggie banks, cost 2 dollars each only. So I checked it out if both are still in good conditions first and thought for a moment if its worth buying, because each of them, Dorothy and David, has piggy bank already. We finally ended up buying the 2 doggie banks. Nothing else caught our fancy there. Dorothy was so happy to keep the other one to add to her collection and let David keep the other. Someone else rubbish is someone else treasure, as what they say.

Just a little bit of Red in Nepean River, Penrith, West of Sydney. I took these photos while we were on board our little tin boat. It was our boating day out.

Today's flowers

I have 3 kinds of hydrangea but this one is the first to bloom. It is not a big plant yet but thriving and doing very well. I have it for about 2 years now. I am hoping to see more of its white flower next season.
