Just few pictures I took today when the winter sun began to make its nightly exit. Pictures were taken with minutes interval.

Magnolia

We were itching to visit my sister's place in the lower part of the Blue Mountains. I was glad the day of our visit was quite warm than in most days of their winter which are bone chilly cold. They have snow sometimes. We spent some time in the local tennis court to cheer for my sister because she played tennis on that day.
When we were on our way to my sister's house, we saw these lovely magnolia trees full of buds and flowers that have just opened in the nearby neighborhood . The sight of these and its fragrance captured our attention and we stopped to get pictures.
Magnolias are sometimes called the queen of the forest too. They are quite a stunning sight on late winter to spring when they are in full bloom.

David's 6th birthday

David turned 6 years old last July 13. He had a celebration party in Hungry Jack attended by most of his classmates, schoolmates and relatives.

And herein, the 10th picture found in my 10th album folder. It is the stalactites inside a cave in my hometown. This cave is the latest in discovery and it is now one of the attractions in my hometown. It is only about 5 minutes walk from where my parents live.

Peter Depena Reserve Beach

Taking advantage of the beautiful weather we have this weekend, we head off to the beach in Ramsgate. Here are some of the photos I took.

My pancit palabok

Last weekend, I was able to grab a chance to cook pancit palabok . This is one of my favourite Filipino foods. I have cooked this Filipino food a few times here when craving hits me. My first attempt cooking it was simply following a recipe which I got while surfing in the net and the result wasn't bad at all. This time I thought to try cooking it in the most quick, easy and more convenient possible way for me . What I did was I just grabbed palabok mix in sachet from the Filipino shop and buy the rest of the ingredients needed. I can even buy here, smoke fish flakes and crushed chicharon to garnish so it saves a lot of my time in the cooking preparation.

My Friend's Visit

She is a former schoolmate in High school and a great friend. We grew up in the same island of the Phils in different place but not far from each other. Our friendship started when she and my sister became friends during High School. When we went to Cebu City to pursue our studies we never forget to see each other and becoming more closer. She is a midwife. I considered her part of my family. My parents, sisters and brother treat her like our own family too. During my parents visit here last year, they never forget to visit her. Even it is about 5 hrs drive from where we live but its worth a trip. Seeing her and her family personally are more special to us. She married one of my hubby's friends a year after I arrived here and they live up in the North Coast of NSW . And from time to time during school holidays, they come to our place for a visit or vice versa. She is blessed with 3 lovely kids, eldest is a girl who is 9 yrs old now and a twin, g and b nearly 5 yrs old.

She and my sister are my only family here in Sydney from Phils. I have uncle and aunties (father's side) in Perth as well but haven't got the chance to visit them yet. We just talk over the phone to catch each other with updates and news. Her and my sister's company always take my bore doom and loneliness away. Although, each of us lives a great distance from each other but we always talk over the phone and spend some time with each other's place on holidays.

Dorothy's drawing

She spends part of her free time drawing. She loves to draw anything whatever takes her fancy and mood. We have a small chalkboard at the back room and she uses it for drawing with David. One time when she was in Year 3 , one of her artworks was selected to be displayed in one of the local High School here for Competition and the public was invited to cast their votes. Of course, we were there to support her. Unfortunately, she didn't get a place but was quite happy and satisfied instead that despite of many beautiful artworks on display, her artwork still managed to earn few public votes .
And because she has a passion of horses, she tried to draw a few using a book as her reference which she borrowed from school and here are just some of it. What do you think?

Our gold fish pet....

They've been with us for quite sometime now. I myself christened them, Barbie and Bratz. Cool, funny or whatever you think but me and Dorothy like those names for them.:) At the time we bought them, they were just tiny as a tadpole. But look at them now! We didn't think that we are capable of growing such size. The fish tank where we put them is just an average size designed only for small fishes. Yet, they settled there very well as the only home they know. We bought another big tank for them where they can swim in great lengths but we are just waiting for the right time when to install it. We originally bought 5 different species of gold fish for a start and unfortunately these are the only two survivors left. The rest died of unexplainable reasons while they were still small. Both our two gold fish had been through misery time . They were been attacked with various diseases but gradually recuperated well with our utmost care and treatment that after those darkest time of their life, they are doing much better now and never been sick again.
We have 4 fish tanks at the moment (2 in the lounge room, 1 in the dining room and 1 in Dorothy's room ). It is so relaxing to watch them swimming around while having a cuppa . Studies have found out that watching the fish swim has a moderate effect on lowering blood pressure. However, we set up fish tanks at home definitely not for that reason alone but because it is hubby's hobby and interest as well. We set up fish tank for Dorothy too for this is what she likes very much as her pet. It is a kind of way too to teach her responsibilities of cleaning ( with hubby's assistance) and feeding them. Although, she still needs to be admonished most of the time.

Luna Park

This is one of our jaunts during the last school holidays. Me and my friend decided to take our kids to Luna Park. Even though we had been there once but the moment I mentioned to Dorothy and David about our plan, they were so excited and yipped for joy. They were right over the moon when I finished off with the news that their friends were coming with us as well. The company of friends add more enjoyment to the fun being there. The kids didn't get enough of the rides for the whole day and still want another visit. Hopefully this coming school holiday again!

Luna Park is one of Sydney's icon located at Milsons Point, on the Northern Shore of Sydney Harbour. It is a historical amusement park with plenty of rides and attraction to enjoy both for young and adult alike. It's a big place to wander with such magnificent views around good to soak up while waiting for the kids. Here are some of the pictures that we took. Hope you enjoy :)
