One Sunday

Not quite an eventful day except for a little fun. We had lunch in one of the local club here and that was the highlight of our day. We didn’t attend the Sunday’s mass but just stayed back late in bed instead and waited for the hours. Thought hubby wouldn’t proceed with our plan to have lunch in the club, as the trip that we planned to do first thing in the morning was canceled due to raining and weather was quite gloomy. The sun didn’t come out and showed any respect for the day. Our plan first thing in the morning was actually to go for another bush walking trip somewhere in Penrith, west of Sydney. This bush walking is one of our favorite things to do on weekends. While it is a great chance for hubby to rejuvenate after a busy week, it gives us chance to be closer again to nature and enjoy everything we see around. That’s why we schedule this outing every now and then if we are not busy with some other things. .

Later in the morning, I just did some of the household chores to keep my day busy and out of boredom.I was really surprised when hubby suddenly told us that we were going to the club for lunch and gave the kids a treat, thereafter. They got this awesome games to amuse everyone in the Kaos section. This particular club is one of my favorites. And the same thing as the last time , I ordered my favorite seafood platter. The thought of that platter always keeps my mouth drooling so I don’t want to miss it every time we visit there. And that was a good chance to devour it again. Hehehe. I love it so much coz it has a lot and cooked to your liking. I always prefer mine done in grill. It is cooked to perfection, not to mention the fresh creamy hollandaise sauce that goes with it, it is so yummy and adds a great compliment to the dish.The platter contains baby octopus, piece of salmon and baramundi fillets, prawn cutlets, chips and green salad. It's a whole lot and enough for a good feed . While the kids had fish and chips as what they always have every time we go there. Best thing too is, they got this little amusement ground right in the middle of the dining area with a big LCD screen showing kids entertainment all the time. Kids never get bored while waiting for orders. They have something to keep them busy for a while.

After we ate, we took the kids to Kaos to let the kids have a go in some of their games. Time to get Daddy’s wallet ready!!!! Hehehe. We bought tokens for them to be used in some of the games. It was so much fun for them that Dorothy even got prizes from a particular game she played three times. It was a pencil and a little sticky ghost. She was happy for what she got even it was just so simple. And the thing that she earned them with her own effort is something she was proud of.

Appointment with the Dentist

As part of our yearly routine, I booked an appointment to see our dentist for the three of us, me, Dorothy and David. I was glad that I was able to get the early hour of their service on that particular day. That was all about examination, cleaning and fluoride treatment. And as usual, Dorothy eagerly volunteered again to be the first one among us to be attented when I told her about our appointment. Since that was David first time , I already presumed it surely a dreadful experience to him. He doesn't like people in white uniform touching him and it's a hell of a fight like a boxing match to convince him to settle down. With the strange apparatus in front of him, I reckoned he had a nerve- wracking feeling at the sight of them . And I myself felt apprehensive about him.

Well, to make the story short, the day came, and the plan turned out not the way we expected it to be as Dorothy eventually changed her mind not to go first. So, David took the chance to be served first and calmly sat on the chair and waited. I was quite relieved to see his eagerness and interest finally surfaced. He kept sit-still for awhile while the dentist adjusted his chair and some other equipments around him, and not until the dentist showed him something to be put in his mouth that he started to struggle as much as he could to get away from the chair. It took us a whole lot of effort trying to convince him but to no avail and the dentist finally decided not to force him too much and told me to re-schedule the visit in some other time. He was only given the fluoride treatment after all. He looked worried, anxious and scared being his first time. That was an unpleasant experience for him. But the good thing was he never cried nor screamed at all.The dentist was very accommodating physically and emotionally though, that it helped Dorothy to comfortably settle down but not to David's dentist phobia.

Ever since, we don't have serious cases with our teeth except only filling thing. Our teeth are well taken care of with flossing every now and then and of course, brushing it everyday helps a lot. I myself never have had toothache in my whole entire life and so as Dorothy and David .Teeth-wise and you will be fine. It surely is.

Chocolate cupcakes

We finally grabbed the chance to make chocolate cupcakes. Dorothy had been bugging me for this since last week. Luckily, when we went out shopping, the packet mix was on sale and I bought one. What a perfect timing!

Since it is so easy to prepare, I let Dorothy do most of the preparations all throughout the procedure. I only guided her what to do, use and such. While David just ignored us as he was so busy with a new educational stuff in his computer. When it was cooked, I took it out from the oven and came my turn to prepare the chocolate frosting which came together with the packet in sachet. I just added butter and milk and mixed it until it combined well to an ideal texture and volume.
As you can see, David making himself very busy eating. I reckoned he ate about 5 pieces straight with a lot of mess around his mouth after and was clamoring for more . That's how he loves and devours it. He seemed not to care much of his look even if he saw me taking a pic of him.

I love chocolates

I cant resist chocolates. Does anyone out there feel the same way as I do? I think everyone does and craves for it.Right?. When I was a kid I loved them so much and never lost the taste since then. I am not a totally chocoholic though for I can live without a single chocolate in a day or two. I simply love them any way I cook or buy them. I could not even give it up for something else or maybe even if I am in strict diet.

Lucky, that last Father’s Day hubby received a box of Lindt Lindor chocolates from one of his children from his previous marriage just on time when my snicker chocolates ran out. And since hubby doesn’t eat much of any kind of sweets this time for he is in a strict diet so he shared some to us. Thanks to his daughter, Joanne.

Oh! by the way, tomorrow I am going to make a chocolate cupcake but sorry to tell you that I cant share you the recipe for I just only bought cupcake mix in a box...hehehe.. that way, no need of mucking longer around the kitchen even though I have extra little hands ready to help. For just about 30 minutes we can have the chocolate cupcakes on the table ready to eat.

Eating chocolates moderately doesn't hurt our diet, I supposed.

Today

Today, looks like its going to rain and quite cold. It is just so unpredictable that this morning we had the sun shining and suddenly it changes to something unexpected, an overcast day.

I don't think the weather has something to do with me today. I just feel something like to get lazy lounging in the lounge room after taking the kids off to school. I could think of only one thing that suits my present mood which is to indulge myself reading a paperback. I read and read until my tummy begs for something.. lolzz..and makes me to realize how long i am there reading. Time is too short especially when you are engrossed with something interesting and today is another day of that sort. Good thing though, that I have the time in front of me that when I take a glance, it is precisely time to pick up David. Without further delay, off I go like lightning...lolz. Not even taking a glance of myself in the mirror for I don't want to upset David waiting for me.

When we arrived home, David begged for lunch and so was my tummy. As I didnt do anything, I could not offer him something. I checked out the fridge with hope that there was something we could fix for lunch or left overs of some sort. Luckily, I found a packet of classic taste (kuno) Pampanga Pork Tocino, thawed already and ready for frying. I remembered that I took it out from the freezer the other day for David's lunch yesterday, but since we ate the left over from our dinner the other night so that's why it is still untouched until today. While I was frying it, I cooked rice at the same time and glad that David patiently waited while indulging himself with his toys. He likes it with rice but not to Dorothy's taste buds. She is not much of Filipino kind when it comes to Filipino foods.

The serving is definitely for picture taking purpose only. David never consumes food that much..lolz..but mind you he eats all the tocino on it and few rice as well.

A Rescue of a Diamond Python

While watching the 6:00 pm news in channel seven, the headline caught my attention that a 2 meters diamond python curled around a power cable in one of the rich suburb in Sydney. I hurriedly called Dorothy to share the news because she likes it when it is about wildlife. We glued our attention to the tv waiting for more details. David thought its funny and wondered what on earth was the python doing up there.

It is an unusual situation, perching on power line . I often hear and even see on tv of cats stuck up trees being rescued but not like this. This type of python is non venomous so that is one big advantage for the rescuers. Wildlife rangers attempted to rescue it but failed and firefighters being called for help. After careful consideration there was no choice but to temporarily cut off the power supply so the python could be hand-picked from it's perch. This type of python is harmless and common in Sydney area and mostly in Eastern Coast of Australia. They generally climb trees and shrubs, but not often power lines.

Just about yesterday

Yesterday was a wet Sunday, dark, gloomy with moderate rainfalls.We couldn't do much outside and just stayed inside the house the whole day. Everyone seemed so busy with the computers except me. I was enjoying my nap in the lounge room with the tv on after lunch. I slept for over an hour and when I woke up, I realized that the time was getting late in the afternoon. I was feeling so relaxed and good after my nap. I felt a little bit exhausted before and I was suffering from lack of sleeps for few nights. And Saturday was a big day for us too for we went to the dentist to have our teeth clean first thing in the morning, then, to our GP to have David's eye check up for I noticed that he kept on rubbing it all the time as it was causing too much discomfort and bothering him all the time. It became reddish sometimes and few times I noticed that that particular eye was a bit sticky in the mornings. Our GP prescribed an allergy medicine for him to be taken once a day. Then, after Saturday lunch, we went out to a birthday party until past 10:00 pm. We didn't go to bed straightaway when we got home, but instead, we watched tv, had a bit of chit chat, cuppas and i read stories for David too. Whilst Dorothy played her computer.I was planning to do something yesterday but obviously the weather didn't permit it. It was so wet to do something at the backyard and besides there was gusty winds in the afternoon but glad it was easing later in the day.

Our backyard now looks a whole lot of a mess, with leaves, twigs and tree barks around being blown down by the wind when I checked it. I will do another big clean up again. Wheoww!Taking a glimpse in the sky late in afternoon, I noticed that the dark clouds had gradually moving away and the blue sky started to appear. There were only few patches of clouds around and looking good for a better start of our week. The sunset treated me to an amazing scene at that time as its changed dramatically from dark yellow to red with some patches of yellow.Although a wet day but wasn't too bad at all for I had an afternoon nap and feel relaxed after wards and ready for the week to come.

Pizza for Dinner

Dinner wasn't too bad at all with two family size pizza, garlic bread and a bottle of coke. Time to forget the diet and enjoy the scrumptious foods. We had a Hawaiian and a God Father with the lot on it including anchovies and olives on the topping. The kids always love pizza as much as we do and their favorite is the Hawaiian. Hubby likes more the God Father and I like it too for it has my favorite ingredients, the salted anchovies and prawns... hmmmm.. These ingredients add more flavor to the pizza but the kids seem to gag at the sight of them..oh, well, it's their loss !..hahaha
We do not eat pizza very often and as far as I can remember the last time we ate pizza was sometime on June right when we came home from our boating adventure. That was only when I realized that I didnt have much time left to prepare our dinner so I suggested a pizza for dinner and everyone yelled, yummy, yummy!

While this afternoon, I did a big clean up at our backyard which I determined to finish before sundown came but because of so many unexpected interruptions along the way, I wasn't able to finish it. Whewww.. wait for another day to completely finish it. Spending few hours at the backyard, it made me felt a bit tired and asked hubby and the kids if they like pizza for dinner for I didn't feel like preparing our dinner at all. It was a big day for me and haven't done everything yet as planned. And as expected everyone yipped for joy for our dinner. I let hubby to ring our favorite pizza shop to place our order and for a delivery. The shop promised to deliver the pizza in 45 minutes time but to our surprise it was delivered earlier than that.

David is sick today

I decided not to let him go to school. He had this occasional cough and a mild fever yesterday late in the afternoon. He seemed not interested in the school yesterday because when i went to pick him up, he was just sitting down in the chair and not bother to pack away his things to get ready for going home. He even didnt do something in the school like doing some craft, painting or drawing, among other things. While most of the kids had something with them when they went home yesterday except for few including David.I had a feeling the moment i step in the door, that David wasn't feeling well at all.

Yesterday, early in the morning too, he came in to our bedroom and woke me up and informed me that he had a poo on his pant which made me think that he had a tummy bug or something which made his tummy upset. It was a big relief to me that it was just once that he had that watery poo and not anymore.That's why he was able to go to school yesterday. I thought that he made a big mess again in the toilet too but I was quite happy that he didnt and was able to take care of himself even if I was not around with him. He placed his dirty pants in the washing room. It had only little poo marks on it. Unlike the other week that he made a big mess in the toilet which made my eyes bugged when I saw it. Even Dorothy complained that the toilet was uninhabitable. It was that time that he had this tummy bug and I did have a big clean up in the toilet.

I want him to get a good rest today so he will be able to come back to school tomorrow. I hope. But right now, he’s bugging me to play in my computer. waaahhhh here comes my "competitor".. He really likes this Thomas the Tank Engine site where he can play some games. He is getting bored probably and i might as well give him a go in the computer while I will do some of the household chores.

Roasted Pork Belly

I could not exactly remember when was the last time we had roasted pork. It’s been quite awhile. We try not to eat too much meat nowadays especially pork and red meat and go for fish and chicken fillets instead, just to avoid many cholesterol intake. Eating small amount of meat or lean meat everyday with plenty of vegetables is recommended for a good and healthy life.

But today is absolutely a different day. I have a good time enjoying a roasted pork belly for lunch with David. Hubby is not able to resist the crunch and the yummy taste of this fatty food. And who would you think can resist it???? hehehe…. Thus, he has few bites of course, just enough to fill in a bit of his craving.

I enjoy it with rice and my dipping sauce is made from a mixture of vinegar, few drops of soy sauce with few onions and chili

So many catalogs

We’ve been flooded these days with catalogs, brochures or whatever you call them. My husband calls them as “cattle dogs”. Some people refer them as “junk mails” and wouldn’t want them in their postbox and trash them right to the bin once they get them. It is really a bit annoying when you discover that your postbox is full and being stacked up with those catalogs. I found few people here display a sign at their postbox with “ no junk mails” just to simply get rid of them. Yet, I find them quite helpful in that I can compare the prices from one shop to the other. This is one of the reasons why I am always going through all of them every time they come in. If we need something too and that is on sale, I sometimes buy it in bulk and by that, I can save a lot. I don’t have to worry if I buy many perishable foods for I got a big freezer at home where I can store them for few weeks.
Many shops now are advertising their great specials for this coming big Dad’s Day so that’s why these many catalogs come in. A perfect time to shop for those who want to get something for this occasion. Taking advantage of these specials is a great help to us to cut our cost of shopping. And since I am planning to get something for hubby, now is the perfect timing to get it. There are a lot to choose from, from gardening tools, clothes, and men’s personal care to almost everything that every father’s need is being discounted. So, I will have to keep moving and get my purse ready coz it happened to me few times that the item I was intended to get was already out of stock when I arrived for people were rushing to get them.

About electric blankets

It is frightening about news that I heard in one of the local TV programs here about these electric blankets that is one of the main causes of house fires here. Electric blankets are now cheaper in shops especially that winter is over and most of the people are grabbing for this great opportunity without checking them. In buying them, we should check out if they comply the safety regulations and standards to prevent accidents where some of the insurance companies or appliances manufacturers refuse to pay up. There are many cheap and unapproved blankets available in the market this time. And as what I heard in the TV, that those blankets that don’t pass the Australian standards are those made in Korea. Good thing though, is that we newly bought 2 QS electric blankets from BIG W the other week with 12 months warranty.( BIG W is one of the biggest chain of stores around Australia and all their products comply all the Australian standards). The good advice that I gathered from the program is when using electric blankets do not put heavy things on top of the blanket because they can cause hot spots and turn off the electric blanket then turn off the power point before going to bed.
