Last night

Yesterday,  we celebrated Australia Day 2014 in Rooty Hill, west of Sydney. There were lots of entertainment for everyone: amusement rides, bands playing Aussie hits, food, stalls and  parachute jump with the largest flag in the southern hemisphere, just to name a few. The night was closed with a spectacular fireworkds display, and here are some of the photos that I captured.

Last Sunday

 We were invited for a lunch in my sister's place in the lower part of the Blue Mountains. It was her birthday on that day and we were all excited. My sister didn't have a big celebration, it's only us and she prepared yummy food.

 We were a bit late when we arrived to their place because we went to a shop first to get things for David's school which was due the following day. When we arrived, I was  hungry already and couldn't help it but start pigging out the food on the table...lolz

 When it was time to blow the candles, of course my little niece who always wants to be in the front seat, blew the candles with only the help of the celebrant, her mum. This was the best part of the celebration that my little niece was waiting patiently...hehehe

We all had a great time.

Here are some of the fireworks that I captured during our Australia Day 2013 celebration last 26 of January. I will share more photos in some of my next posts. 

Last Sunday

We celebrated Father's Day last Sunday with a bbq with my hubby's family in our place, and having a fine weather on that day was a real bonus, not so cold. I prepared  Filipino noodles and fruit salad which are always a huge hit on the table. Hubby barbecued chicken and beef.  It was a fun filled day for everyone with great foods

 Anyways, here are some of hubby's Father's Day presents from David, Dorothy and his children from his previous marriage.

My David's b-day

It was his 9th b-day last month. Unlike his previous b-days, we decided not to give him a birthday party because last year he had a big birthday party attended by most of  his close friends from his school.
On his birthday we went out and bought him some presents that he liked. Then we watched a movie. I bought him a b-day cake and something  for lunch too. His Auntie and Uncle, and cousin, Maddie came by to join us on his simple b-day celebration.

While we were at the mall, there was a face painting for free and since he loves face painting, he asked if he can have it, of course I can't say no to my little boy, it is his birthday after all. It is not Halloween yet, but he chose a skeleton face paint..hehehe

Madie's birthday

 My niece Madie celebrated her 5th b-day last month at their place in the lower part of the Blue Mountains and we were invited to celebrate the day with them. Unlike the previous birthday parties that she had, it was only us that they invited but on the day of her b-day they gave special treats to all of Madie's classmates in the pre-school where she is.

  It was a great day filled with fun for all of us. Thank you to my sister and her hubby for always inviting us.

For Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is always a busy day for us, but lots of fun and great food. It is our Easter tradition that we have a get together with hubby's family as well as mine in our place to celebrate the special occasion with us. Being the host of the occasion, we always prepare delicious food for lunch and give chocolates bunnies and eggs to the kids. This is the part of the celebration that the kids love most. That's why every Easter, I don't miss the chocolates eggs and bunnies. I always organise Easter egg hunt too, and with the help of the big ones, it is always fun.

Since Easter egg hunt is not complete without Easter egg basket, I made one myself. It is just so simple. I hope next Easter I would be able to make a better one than this..hehehe.

Happy Father's Day!

To all Dads out there,
We celebrate our Father’s Day on the first Sunday of September . Unlike US and other countries of the world where Father’s Day is celebrated on the 3^rd Sunday of June. While Australia, New Zealand and some other countries celebrate it on September.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO MY DEAREST FATHER PAPA ROMY WHO IS IN THE PHILIPPINES. WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU.

David's birthday bash

David just turned 8 yrs old last Tuesday and he had a birthday party in one of the Indoor Playground Centre here. It was attended by his classmates and friends. There were about 11 kids who came and enjoyed the celebration with David.
We decided to have his birthday party at that place because it is winter time and weather is unpredictable. Our house is not big enough to house a party for kids and besides our back room is undergoing renovation which is not still finish. My first plan for his birthday party was to be held in a park with a nice playground nearby but hubby didn't like the idea.
I booked his party 3 weeks before his birthday so we can get a place on a weekend. Glad that the day and time that I chose was still available. Foods and cake were included in the booking. I just prepared the party bags with the help of Dorothy. Last year, he had his party at home attended by relatives only.

My Mother's Day

It was a lovely and a meaningful celebration and I am sure every mum had a great time too. I celebrated it with my family at home. We didn't go out because we had a little preparation for that day. The kids always get excited too for they always prepare something special for me and can't wait to give their Mother's Day presents. David bought these beautiful kitchen utensil set, chocolate cups, basting brushes, dish brush and a pair of towel holder from his school during Mother's Day stall, a fund raising organised by the P & C . I love them because I can use them in the kitchen.

Dorothy gave me a beautiful plant with blooms already (a type of daisy) which she bought from the flower shop nearby after her tennis lesson. I like the plant because I haven't got that kind yet, and she volunteered to make a pavlova after breakfast with my supervision of course. It was her first time and glad it turned out good.She sprinkled icing sugar on the top which melted before I could get a picture.


We also had a little Mother's Day mud cake which I bought the day before Mother's Day for us to enjoy.

Our family Easter celebration

I had been busy preparing for our family Easter celebration which was held at our house. Every year we celebrate Easter with our relatives from both sides and we always host the celebration which means, it is not only the Easter chocolate bunnies and eggs to prepare but also foods as well for our lunch. Because I wanted everything ready before the weekend came so I went to the shop last Thursday to buy all the things that we needed for the big day and glad I was able to get everything. The Easter chocolate bunnies and eggs were on sale which I was glad too.

And also the Easter egg hunt is not to be missed. The kids always love it and had a great time looking for the chocolate eggs that we hide around the backyard. The celebration was a success and we all had a great time.

Father's Day Lunch

Part of our Father's Day celebration last Sunday was a lunch at the local club in our area with some friends. We booked a place for us a few days before the day came because special occasion like this is hard to get a place. The club is one of our favourite places when it comes to dining . It is a self serve and eat all you can. It was a late lunch and everyone enjoyed the scrumptious food specially prepared for that occasion.

This Sunday, the 5th of September...

We celebrate our Father’s Day on the first Sunday of September . Unlike US and other countries of the world where Father’s Day is celebrated on the 3^rd Sunday of June. While Australia, New Zealand and some other countries celebrate it on September.
The day is fast approaching and I still cannot decide what gift to get for Dad. I have been busy to give it so much thought. He is not that fussy but I really like something that is not expensive which he can enjoy too. Budget is also tight at the moment so it is kinda hard for me to figure out. Last year the kids, gave him various pens, notepads,and a pen holder which he still uses until this time. I gave him a hat which he still uses too.
Today, the school where my kids are, was having their annual Father’s Day stall. It was a fund raising organized by the school every Father’s Day and I gave the kids some money to spend for the things they wanted to give for their Dad. When they got home each of them have a plastic bag on their hand which they keep inside their room for the time being. They always wanted to make Father’s Day special with some surprises for their Dad.
Late also this afternoon we went to the mall to do some shopping and I took the opportunity to look around for something to get for Hubby.
