Yesterday morning..

It wasn't a heavy frost but it was enough to make minimal damage in my garden. The leaves of some of my plants are looking droopy and sad now. This was not the first time that we have frost since winter had started last June, we had a few already but not heavy. It was about 8:30 am when I went out to the backyard to take some photos.

Last Sunday

It was again another foggy and freezing morning. And when I went out at about 9:30 am to our backyard to hang clothes in the clothesline , the fog lifted a bit and I captured a few photos of the sun tried to break through a blanket of fog.

Last Friday morning

When I woke up, I was greeted by a blanket of fog outside. It was quite thick and because I love taking pictures on a foggy day, I carefully secured my camera in my bag so it wont be left forgotten when I take the kids to school. It was about 8:30 am and there was still less visibility. It was a dull dreary day.

This morning..

It was around 7:15 am when I got up from the bed and went outside to the backyard to take a glimpse of the sunrise. I didn't realize that it was freezing cold until I was outside and noticed that the ground was white covered with frost. Wheow! I should be inside, stay warm and have a cuppa but can't help it. While outside I looked around and saw few birds perching on the neighbor's naked tree soaking up the early morning sunrise light. I can't resist but to take picture of them as well as the frosty ground.
We hit 0 degrees C this morning, the coldest of June in 27 years. We don't have snow on winter because we are in the low land area but it snows in some parts of the mountains.

Today

Blue sky with traces of cloud scattered around and gusty winds, bring colder temperature today.

My plants on winter time

We are on our last month of our winter season and spring time is just around the corner. Nights are still freezing and frosty which mean that I still have to do my afternoon and morning ritual in the garden…hehehe Well, because these frosts can kill the plants. So, I have to cover them before the night comes to protect them and take off the cover every morning so they can enjoy the sunlight. Sometimes if I am so busy, I forget to take off the covers ..hehehehe… but glad they are doing well despite of my forgetfulness.

I got mango seedling just newly planted before the winter came and glad that it is still looking good and thriving. I really love this plant and it is been such a long time that I was longing to have one. In fact, I was able to grow seedling out from the mango I bought in one of the shops here but unfortunately, it died from frost few years ago. Since then, I didn’t have one until a friend of mine gave this mango seedling to me. Not a gift but it something that she didn’t want anymore. She moved to another apartment where there is no place for her to plant it. I was so happy that I planted it right away in the ground not waiting for the appropriate time when to plant it. I guess, I was just being excited.

I use a big plastic bag with holes in it to cover my mango seedling and net to cover some of my other plants. The net is not as good as the plastic bag as its got tiny holes in it where some frost can get through but at least my plants have something to give them little protection against the frost with nothing to worry in the morning.
