Ruby Tuesday

This is my hubby's eldest son's rooster. He is raising a few chickens for eggs for their consumption.

She's going to the District

We finally got the note from the school that Dorothy has gained selection to represent the school for this coming District Athletics Carnival sometime this week. She will compete for the 800 m 12/13 yr girls, 100 m 12/13 yr girls and 200 m 12/13 girls. The event will be for 2 consecutive days. Her first race will be for the 800 m on the first day while the rest will be on the second day. And unlike last year, I won't be able to be there to cheer for her for I have an appointment on the first day of the competition. But I will try my best to be there on the second day . Good luck to all athletes.

Crimson Rosella

This was taken while we were at a gathering of my hubby's family, these Crimson Rosella parrots, also known as Mountain Lowry just came by and perched on one of the trees in the backyard. We don't get to see them where we live so it was some kind of a treat for us to see these beautiful birds on that day.I am sharing this post with Camera Critters.

Watery Wednesday

Bundeena Beach is in Bundeena in the North-East corner of the Royal National Park, on the Southern edge of Port Hacking. It is a perfect place to spend a quiet day away from the city of Sydney, only 20 minutes ferry ride from Cronulla and about 45 minutes drive from Sydney.

School event

Just a quick update from last Friday's school event. It was the school annual Athletics Carnival where my kids are. And as usual I went there to witness some of the events and cheer for the kids. It was held at the school ground for 2 consecutive days. My kids competed in the running race. Unfortunately, David didn't win but I was so proud of him for being in the competition and done well. While Dorothy on the other hand, won 2nd place in 800 m Senior girls, 1st place in 100 m Senior girls, 1st place in 200 m Senior girls and 2nd place in the Senior girls relay. She was really doing well. We don't know yet if she qualifies for the District Athletics Carnival this time but she thinks it's positive, which I hope. Today's Flowers

These beautiful camellias were at the landscaped garden in one of the grocery shops in Bilpin, NSW. We stopped by at the shop to get something and while we were at the parking area my eyes were drawn to these beautiful flowers.

Sky Watch Friday

Sunset on 17 August 2010 taken just beside the highway close to where we live. As you can see there are power lines, traffic lights, street light posts, bus stop and road signs. You name it, its got everything. Sigh. I can't take better pictures without those otherwise I have to walk a good distance with only the power lines on it as much as possible . But I decided just to remain where I was for the highway was becoming more crowded and it was getting dark too.

At Bilpin Park

This was last Sunday when we were driving up the Bell Line of Road in the other side of the Blue Mountains. After an hour drive we decided to take a rest at the Bilpin park to have a cuppa with scones which I brought with us, and visit the toilet as well. It has a playground and the kids spent some time there. When they had enough, they moved to the dirt foot path and played a guessing game. Dorothy performed the action and David had to guess what it was but while he was trying to figure out what Dorothy was doing his hands were busy with something else. He was looking for an interesting rock to be added to his collection.And finally he found what he was looking for and happily showed it to his big sister.

Ruby Tuesday

It's Ruby Tuesday time again and here is my post. These were taken at the plant nursery close to where we live. These cute planters caught my attention while I was walking around looking for some vegetable seedlings for my garden.

Last Saturday evening

Last Saturday early in the evening, we went out to try our luck to fish salmon trout at Mt Druitt Swimming Pool. It was the last day of the Family Fish In Day, a yearly event for all the family and everyone who love fishing, organized by the Council in our area. The pool was stocked with more than 500 salmon trout from Sandy Waterfall Creek, on the Goobragandra River just outside of Tumut, NSW. There were also fabulous prizes to be won just to add excitement for the night.I booked for 1 adult and 1 child (Dorothy) to fish because David didn't want to try his luck. We used live worms for bait . But I think the trout didn't fancy our live worms for we didn't catch any while the people whose spot was next to us and were using synthetic bait caught about 5 trout. Oh, well, there is still next year and who knows Lady Luck might be with us.

Camera Critters

Pictures were taken sometime last January. I saw this yellow crested cockatoo while I was watering my plants after a scorching hot day on one of the trees at the backyard. He seemed so busy eating the fruits of the tree that he didn't even notice that someone was watching him. I hurriedly went inside to grab my camera to take few photos of him. He was becoming suddenly aware of my presence and stopped from what he was doing and just looked at me.

Visitors

My sister and her daughter visited us last Friday. We took some photos while we were outside enjoying the glorious day and picking some guavas at the backyard. I wasn't still feeling good but their presence gave me more energy to enjoy the day with them. The kids were at school during their visit but they were able to see them in the afternoon after school and spent some time playing with their cousin. Inside the trampoline

Sick

I am not feeling well for I have been sick with flu like symptoms that has been going around these days. I have a stuffy nose and it's bothering me that for a few nights I was not able to sleep. I had to sit down all throughout the night because it made me feel more comfortable rather than lying down on bed. I feel tired and achy too . I have been taking medicine and even went to my GP for a check up the other day. Right now, I can't smell any food and can even taste it. I am hoping I will get a lot better this weekend for I booked a fishing fun day out for us.
