Camera Critters

Thought to join Camera Critters again. My entry was taken in the South Coast of NSW during our 1 week camping holiday and while driving to take the kids to a lake nearby to go fishing, these locals caught our attention. They were just along the road, some enjoying their feed, some were nosy and watching us as we passed along. It was a delightful sight for the kids as we don't get to see them in our area.

Ruby Tuesday #1

Ruby Tuesday is about photos with red on it (little or lot). Because I like red so I thought to join and this is my first entry.
Pictures were taken one apple season at Pine Crest Orchard in Bilpin, NSW, a small town on Bell's Line of Road 93 km west of Sydney. It's "pick your own apples" for only $ 2/kg and the best thing is you can eat as many as you can while picking them. Varieties such as, fuji apples, pink lady and granny smith are all in there and lots and lots of them. It's fun and a great experience for us.

Camera Critters #1

It's my first time to join this Camera Critters Meme. It is all about photos of animals/critters.
While we were taking a walk in one of the parks here, we didn't notice that we were under surveillance by this nosy galah (a pink and grey species of cockatoo native of Australia) until we heard little squawking noises from her.

Sydney Wildlife World

Last school holiday I took the kids out to the city to visit Sydney Wildlife World in Darling Harbour. It was our first time to visit there and obviously the kids were so excited and so was I. Hubby didnt come with us for he had something to do at home that needed his immediate attention. It was gloomy and a dreary day and unfortunately the rain pelted down on and off with gusty winds when we arrived. Despite the bad weather, we still managed to enjoy our visit and even people were flocking at the place. Here are just some of the photos .

Some butterflies at Flutterbys

Here are few photos of butterflies taken by Dorothy and myself during our visit to Sydney Wildlife World . They have this 2 storey butterfly habitat "Flutterbys" where we can interact with the butterflies inside their tropical rain forest oasis. The habitat sits at approximately 30 degrees Celsius and a steamy 70 per cent humidity.
Since David didn't want to stay longer inside the habitat and preferred to stay outside, I accompanied him outside. So Dorothy was left inside trying to catch the butterflies attention to make a quick stop on her. But no luck at all. Inside the flutterbys

Just some of the pictures I took to share with you during our trip to Manly last week with my friends, my sister, and our kids. Since I have already a blog about Manly trip after our trip last April '09 , I just took pictures of some of the views which are not or mostly in my previous blog.Hope you enjoy !

A day in Manly beach

We went out to Manly beach last week. It was a sunny windy day and quite chilly but it didnt stop us having fun and enjoying the beach. The kids can't hide their excitement the moment we arrived but soon the excitement was replaced by disappointment when they noticed the seawater wasn't good enough for swimming, cold and rough and obviously no swimming will be allowed but however, they found something to keep themselves busy instead. They made sandcastles, chasing the waves and seagulls. We all had a good time.

Fried bangus

It's actually my first time to cook fried bangus (milkfish). I just felt I'd like to try my own fried bangus after the time me and my friend had lunch in a Filipino Restaurant. We ordered few dishes that we fancied at that time. My friend ordered fried bangus and pork barbecue while I ordered pinakbet and dinuguan and we shared everything on our table. Taking glimpses to the fried bangus, it really looked so delicious so I grabbed a little piece and dipped in a vinegar and soy sauce mixture, and geez, it was yummy. I was so full after we ate that I felt I can't move anymore. lolzz.. My friend then informed me that some Filipino shops around in our area are selling frozen marinated bangus in pack so I checked it out the next time I went out grocery shopping and I grabbed a pack. This was my dinner one night.

Kids's artwork

The school where my kids are in, spent the last day of the school term 3 with fun, excitement and a fund raising day . It was Friday and the weekly assembly which is in the morning of every Friday went as normal followed by the parents/carer's visit to the classroom, picnic and the talent quest which was added to the excitement of the day. Parents/carers were invited to visit the classroom of our kids to see their artworks with a gold coin donation for every artwork that we really like to take home, hence a fund raising. Of course, a day such as this is another great opportunity for us, parents/carers to visit the classroom of our kids, meet some parents and check out all our kids artworks of the entire school term 3. I was only planning to take home few arts of Dorothy and David that I can afford because my gold coin (AU$1 or $2 coin) was limited. While I was in David's room, David's teacher informed us that we don't have to worry how much gold coin we have but have to donate only of what we can afford instead and by that we can take home any artworks, which we were really grateful. Below is just one of David's favorite artworks.On the other hand, one of Dorothy's artwork is this boomerang. She really likes it because the moment I got inside their classroom, she came to me and whispered to pay a gold coin for her boomerang even if the paint wasn't quite dry..lolz. She painted it by herself. I took few other artworks of Dorothy home too.

My Orchids

I have a small collection of orchids, and growing them is really quite easy, just a little of your time and attention plus a perfect spot, a semi-shady spot in your yard, that's all it needs and you will be rewarded by magnificent flowers. My orchids are just few and inexpensive when I bought them from a lady who is regularly selling different kinds of plants as a fund raising for cancer research. As a way to help the fund raising and for my love of plants, I eventually become her friend and a regular customer so to speak. My orchids didn't bloom at a time together. Some bloomed on late winter, some this spring time and some haven't bloomed yet.

Saging and ginamos

When Dhemz mentioned to me about "saging (banana) and ginamos (salted small white fish), I remembered my small bottle of "ginamos" given by my sister from her holiday in the Phils as a "pasalubong". It was left forgotten sitting in our fridge since then, that I didn't remember it anymore. When I checked it out, to my relief, it is still good and not past the expiry date (May 2010) yet, which I am really glad. I still can enjoy it. I bought a frozen "sab-a" banana from the Filipino shop to go with it, and just thawed and tossed it in the microwave. I had it for my afternoon snack.
Hubby calls 'guinamos" poisonous fish" because of its smell. .hehehe

Pizza for dinner

It was not just because our taste buds craved for it but merely because I was just being lazy getting myself in the kitchen.hehehe.I didn't have the mood to cook for dinner so we decided to get something take away . Pizza was the first choice and everyone agreed. We ordered it from our favourite pizza place. They always use fresh ingredients so we always get our money's worth. David and Dorothy had the Hawaiian while me and hubby had our favourite, the house special with the lot on it.
