Long weekend

We have a long weekend this time because we celebrate Labor Day this coming Monday. Labour Day is a public holiday in all states and territories in Australia. NSW, ACT and South Australia celebrate Labour Day on the first Monday in October.Western Australia celebrates it  on the first Monday in March, while Victoria and Tasmania celebrate it on the second Monday in March and in Northern Territory and Queensland celebrate it on the first Monday in May.

One Sunday

Two weeks ago was school holiday here and I had been busy taking the kids out to keep them occupied. We watched Cars 2 movie with friends, going biking at the reserve, feeding the ducks, visiting parks with friends, playing our local playground and even taking them to the mall doing window shopping and had lunch there. I scheduled a visit to Powerhouse Museum in Sydney for David too. Since we didn't do anything one Sunday, I decided to take David there. Even if it was his second time to visit the place, he was so excited. Dorothy didn't come with us because she had been there a few times and decided to visit her friend who lives one block away from us.
We took the train in going there and availed the Family fun Day ticket which cost only $2.50 each with unlimited travel on Sydney's trains, buses and ferries every Sunday. We got off at the Central Station and walked down to our destination. It was about 10 minutes walk, I reckoned.

One of the attractions there that David likes the most is the Magic Garden which is an imaginative environment, developed in consultation with health experts, where 2-8 year olds can play among pumpkins and mushrooms, chase fish in a digital pond or catch butterflies at the garden gate.
We had a great time and David told me that he wanted to visit there again.

School holiday

Yesterday was the last day of the first term for this school year and the kids are having their 2 weeks holiday. They will come back to school on the 27th of this month. They are so excited. No wake up early and sleep early for the time being. I have planned a few activities for them to do to keep them busy, places to visit and maybe organise a sleep over and invite some of their friends to come over to our house. Today, a friend of mine is inviting us for a get together party and Dorothy is invited for a sleep over to their place too. David is not allowed yet for a sleep over for he is still little for that kind of thing and it is fine with him. There's actually nothing grand to celebrate this Saturday but just a simple get together. On Easter Sunday we are going to have a barbecue in our house and families in both sides are coming to celebrate Easter Sunday with us. I am going to be busy again but it is always a joy seeing our families and catching each other again.

Watery Wednesday-Island Hopping

These were taken during our last visit to the Philippines. We managed to go Island hopping around Mactan Island with my family and my sisters' family on board a hired motor boat with lunch package included and a few stop over of some islands around Mactan Island for the whole day. One of the highlights of the day was our visit to the fish and marine sanctuary where we can feed the fishes. But it was only hubby ended up feeding the fishes in the water. We didn't go to the water to feed them because we didn't feel like it . There were so many fishes that came by and it felt something uncomfortable when they tried to get your attention even if it was just like a gentle nibble that tickles. We just threw some food to the water instead.

David didn't go in the water because he wasn't feeling well but I did take him with us so he can enjoy the motor boat ride.

Feeding the Dino

This is my second post about our visit to Australian Museum. Some of the attractions there are the popular Dinosaur Exhibition and a Dinosaur show. I just paid a bit of extra with the entrance fee so the kids can watch the Dinosaur show for the first time in the afternoon. The Dino in the show is called Winnie, a Muttaburrasaurus Puppet, big enough to resemble a 3 yrs old Dino in the olden days. Winnie and her keeper entertained in the show about the life of the Dinosaur. The kids were so fascinated with Winnie and curious to learn more about Dinosaur.Dorothy was so lucky to be chosen to pretend feeding the Dino along with the other kids. I saw many kids who were so eager to try that experience as there were many children hands in the air wishing to be picked up by the keeper. Dorothy was so excited and enjoyed it so much and even engaged herself in the audience participation in the question and answer portion too. David on the other hand was quiet but enjoying the show as well. I was really glad he didn't appear to be scared of the Dino's appearance and the sound effects. I saw few kids got terrified and cried the moment the Dino appeared in the scene. And sorry for the poor quality of my pics. I hope I can get better quality next time.Can you see the man's legs?

I'm back

Yes, I am back on track now after few days of being away. We arrived last Sunday afternoon. I missed my blogs and everyone here but didn't have much time to sit down in front of my computer right away. I was stacked with some works around the house that needed my attention and did grocery shopping for the things we need for the week. The unpacking is always my worst part in every trip plus the trip is over, so no excitement anymore. But I was just glad that I was able to finish it before Monday and before my laziness settles in. My garden had not been watered for days and thankfully there are no casualties occurred when I checked it out.
We had sizzling hot days during our entire holiday but glad we still managed to have a fantastic time. We stayed in a friend's house in the country side and headed off every afternoon to the beach when temperatures subsided, swimming, walking, relaxing and enjoying the sea breeze and the views around until early evening. We all had a great time and can't wait for the next holiday.
