Tennis Holiday Clinic

Dorothy started her tennis holiday clinic today for 4 days. Her Dad takes her in the morning and I have to pick her after I finish work. The venue of the tennis clinic isn't that far from where I work. I just have to go straight to the venue right after I finish work and wait for her to finish.There are about 14 kids in the group including Dorothy. She told me that she had a great single match today with one of the boys and fortunately she won. She really enjoyed it and had a fantastic time  as well as the rest of the kids.

Comp Runner-up

Last night was RF Tennis School  Competition presentation night  and Dorothy received again another trophy for being the runner up in the competition in Division 1. She and her partner were so happy eventhough they didn't won the firts place  but being in the final last night was something they deserved. They both worked so hard in the entire competition to get a spot in the final. We are so happy for them. They deserved it. Congratulations! 

Last Thursday

We had a brief shower last Thursday  after an overnight cooler  temperature. Dark clouds started to cover after the morning and a thunderstorm was forecasted late in the afternoon. The shower was such a great relief after about more than a month with no rain.
I thought Dorothy's tennis competition was not on due to the weather condition early that night, but since we didn't receive any message of cancellation we decided to go to the usual venue on time. However, when Dorothy's double match was about to end, light showers started to fall again but it didn't stopped them to finish the match. They kept on playing under the pouring rain showers and glad Dorothy and her friend won the game. It wasn't a bad night either for Dorothy  won the single match too.

Cancelled due to wet weather

Got a text message yesterday morning from Dorothy's head coach that Dorothy's tennis lesson was washed out due to heavy rains. We had lots of rain in the past few days until Saturday morning. We just saw the blue sky yesterday afternoon after a heavy rainfall in the morning. Weather is so unpredictable that can change at any moment, rain this time and the next minute is sunny. Well, anyway, a make up day for the tennis lesson is scheduled and a registration is required in the tennis website. I haven't done it yet maybe sometime this week.

Cancelled

Last Saturday, when me and Dorothy were about to go to her tennis lesson, I received a text from the head coach informing me that Dorothy's tennis lesson was cancelled on that day because her tennis coach wasn't feeling well. I was just glad that I had checked my mobile phone before we head off to the venue. I hope her tennis coach gets well soon. And a make up class will be scheduled sometime this term.

Going to the tennis venue

This was about 8:3o am last Tuesday while we were driving to take Dorothy to the School Holiday Tennis Clinic. It was a cold foggy misty morning.

School Holiday Tennis Clinic

It is school holiday here once again for 2 weeks and this school holiday Dorothy joins the School Holiday Tennis Clinic organized by the Tennis School where she is in. Since Dorothy haven't been involved in a School Holiday Tennis Clinic before while she is taking a tennis lesson for a year now, we booked her for one week this school holiday for 3 hours every day. She decided to join this school holiday for the first time just to gain additional practice during the school holidays in a fun filled environment. The clinic is consist of coaching, fun games, match play and tournaments. It is held in a different tennis venue which is a farther drive away from her tennis lesson venue and she enjoys the clinic immensely.The pictures were taken at court 3(Dorothy is in green top). It was drizzling and seemed nobody care.:)

Dorothy's tennis lesson

I got a call from Dorothy's coach yesterday that her tennis lesson this Saturday will be held in a different venue due to the undergoing fence repair of the Tennis Center that until this weekend is not yet finish. The venue is not that far from where we live but the thing that Dorothy is not yet familiar with the place I was planning to stay until she finishes. Usually, we just drop her off to the Tennis Center and pick her up when the time finish and it's fine with her.
Unfortunately when Saturday came, it was raining cats and dogs. Hubby rang to the coach and left a message since the phone was engaged. Few minutes later the coach returned our call and informed us that the tennis lesson is canceled due to the rain, well, that was also expected but we just want to make it sure. It has been raining on and off since Monday here. Wednesday was the heaviest with non stop rain. Yesterday, we had on and off sunshine while today, it rains on and off again.
Since we don't have plans for the rest of the day, I took the kids to the mall, had lunch there and did our weekly grocery shopping.

It's another hot day today

We are staying mostly inside the house today because we can't do much outside. It is too hot to do anything. I was planning to take the kids to Sydney Aquarium earlier today but hold the plan until sometime this coming week. Our aircon has been working all night and today. We are predicting up to 40 degrees C temperature today. Dorothy wanted to go out for a swim but I decided not to let her go because yesterday I noticed a few skin peeled off on her face from her previous swimming outings with friends even though she put a lot of sunscreen on all over her body and face. I told her to have a break from her swimming for a while and let her skin be back to normal again. And besides with this kind of temperature, I won't allow my kids longer exposure to the sun even if with sunscreen on.
Yesterday was a scorching hot day too but we still managed to go out and ventured to the tennis center in the Sydney Olympic Park to witness great tennis matches from players all over the world. We stayed mostly in the shade and in the main court. We were pretty exhausted when we got home but we had fun enough to call it a day.

At Medibank International

It is once again our tennis season here, and another wonderful chance to see fantastic matches of world class tennis players. As a big tennis fan, I had been waiting for the day to come. Last year, I took with us my parents and I can tell how much they enjoyed some of its great matches. Having grown up in a family that loves tennis, it gave me so much knowledge and interest about the game. My father was a former tennis president of my hometown for years and everyone in the family played the game except me and our eldest sister. I used to do practice before but it stopped when I pursued my studies in Cebu CityLast Saturday, we ( Dorothy, my sister and I) managed to grab a chance to visit Medibank International Sydney at Olympic Tennis Center. It is Sydney's biggest tennis event every year, "Sydney's Biggest Stage" prior to Australian Open which will be held in Melbourne sometime next week. Every year, I could not afford to miss to watch up close and personal some of its great matches. So when the day was getting closer, I was able to make arrangement with hubby to leave David under his care and glad that he didn't failed me. We always have a great time and it is worth a visit even though weather was quite warm and humid.
