Sometime last week

Since I didn't have anything to do after my lunch and started to feel a little bored, I thought to make banana bread again. I found a recipe which is so easy to make from the internet which I have been enjoying for a while now. I had enough ripe bananas to make for 2 banana bread and while checking the rest of the ingredients, I was glad that I had enough to be used for the recipe.Hubby always love it with a cup of coffee after work and kids love to have slices for their snack in the afternoon. Here are my fabulous banana bread. Please click here for the recipe.

Ruby Tuesday

Here's my Ruby Tuesday post. Picture was taken two years ago during our visit to Luna Park which is located in Milsons Point, just under the northern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is easily accessible by train, bus, ferry and car. This is my son in red shirt with a black baseball cap enjoying one of the rides. He was too busy that he didn't have time to look at the camera.

When David was in the party

David was invited to a friend's birthday party which was held in Sydney Olympic Golf Course, about 30 minutes drive from where we live last Sunday. It was his first time to attend a party there. They were in the mini golf course playing golf. Even if the weather wasn't on their side for it was cloudy with on and off showers, it didn't stop them to have fun. David was enjoying really well until he was hit by a golf ball on his chin by accident. He was crying and one of the ladies who organized the party took him to me right away. I was in the other side of the restaurant enjoying coffee, fruits and potato wedges with all the parents of the kids. He said he hit himself on the chin and it hurt that he could not stand to continue playing. The lady gave us an ice pack to apply to the affected area. It didn't show any bruise, blood or swollen at all so I thought it wasn't something bad to worry about. I let him stayed with me and after awhile, he decided to go back to the party venue to join in some of the games . They were about to start a game when I took David there and he was gladly welcomed back . It was such a great party despite of David's little accident, lots of yummy food and fun for them. I wasn't able to take photos for I forgot my camera again. I just remembered it when we were half way to our destination.

Camera Critters

Here is my Camera Critters post. Pictures were taken at Taronga Zoo during our visit sometime last October of this year. These koalas were sound asleep during our visit. We didn't get the chance seeing them wide awake, munching leaves, climbing and all sort of things that a koala does . Looking at the first picture below, can you tell what really makes it so special and sweet? Well, if you look at more closely you can see that this is a koala mother cuddling a joey in her sleep.I find this picture below so cute too with the koala's arm hanging down while sleeping and looking lifeless, though.Interested to join or want to see more Critters from all around the world please click, here.

Our mulberry tree

We have a big white mulberry tree at the backyard. I am not sure how old it is but it has been there since we bought the house last 1997. It never failed to give us fruits every year since we moved here but we've never used the fruits. However, lot of birds come to visit the tree when its in season including some fruit bats at night time. Most of its fruits just drop off and claimed by the ground. When my kids used to raise silkworms, we didn't have trouble looking for food. The silkworms can eat as many leaves as they could stomach as the tree has plenty of leaves that can even feed a whole army of silkworm.
I like the tree in summer time for it gives shade in our backyard that even during hot days we can still stay outside under its shade while on Autumn time the leaves turn to yellow and drop off to the ground. I don't mind cleaning up my yard with thousands of mulberry leaves. I just use a blower vacuum to suck and at the same time munch the leaves ready for composting. That way, it saves my pocket from buying fertilizer. Although it takes time to compost them but it's worth the wait.
Here are some of its frequent visitors but I am not exactly sure what birds they are.

Sky Watch Friday

Yesterday's sunset.

Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain. An occasional glance towards the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point

Farewell Party dress

My daughter's farewell party is coming up soon and just to get ready with everything she needed for the party, I took her to the mall last Saturday to buy her a new dress and a pair of shoes. It took us longer before we decided what to get for there were many to choose from mostly on sale price. The party doesn't require an expensive dress but at least presentable for the night. I ended up buying a dress that she likes best. I am glad that the smallest size fits her perfectly and no alteration needed.

Watery Wednesday

This photo was taken two years ago in Featherdale Wildlife Park, 45 minutes from the centre of Sydney and about 10 minutes drive from where we live. I am not sure what kind of storks are these. I failed to check it out during our visit because I was busy chasing the kids. :)
Happy Watery Wednesday.

Fresh Fruit Salad

This was the other weekend when the weather was a bit warm and we craved for something refreshing so the idea of making fresh fruit salad popped into my mind. Since, I had enough fruits in the fruit bowl to be used for that day, I didn't bother to go out and get more fruits. When it comes to fruit salad we prefer it to be simple, fresh and crunchy. My kids love it especially if most of the ingredients are their favourite fruits. I love the addition of fresh mint leaves though but since the kids don't like it, I have to separate a bowl with fresh mint leaves on it for me. With the help of Dorothy we made our fresh fruit salad in no time. (Ingredients: banana, apple, orange and watermelon)

At the mall

Here's my daughter wearing a Westpoint Christmas hat which she asked from a lady in Westpoint Shopping Centre. She asked it for David but David wasn't in the mood to put it on. He obviously didn't like it and so Dorothy put on the hat instead and asked me if I could take a picture of her while we were waiting for their Dad to finish his work and met us there.

Watery Wednesday

It was a wet start of our week. It rained all Monday and the ground was soaking wet. I took an opportunity again to go out to capture some pictures for my Watery Wednesday post and this time I am sharing with you another one of my succulent plants that was soaking wet under the pouring rain. Not sure what is the particular name of this succulent but this is one of my favourites.Happy Watery Wednesday.

Our visitors last Sunday

My step daughter and her family came over for a visit. They live about 2 hours from where we live in the Southern Highlands of NSW. It is always great to see them after awhile that we haven't seen each other. Although we talk from time to time over the phone catching each other but its a great feeling to see them and spent some time with us.
I prepared a special dish for that day, garlic and herb lamb shanks cooked in a slow cooker. Hubby loves so much this dish but because he is on a diet, he cannot have this dish always. Besides the kids and I are not a big fan of lamb. I bought a garlic and herb lamb shanks recipe base and just added carrots, a can of tomato, tomato paste and 4 pieces of lamb shanks, and placed everything in the slow cooker and cooked on high for 4 hours. The thing that I really like cooking in a slow cooker is it tenderizes the meat and vegies, and blends flavours. It is so yummy.

Ruby Tuesday

Here is the NSW Fire Truck for my Ruby Tuesday post. We saw this fire truck parked near the venue of the Kids for Kites Day in the mall close to where we live.Interested to join or want to see more red please click here

Last Saturday

I am going to share with you pictures which were taken by my son David. We were at the venue of my daughter's tennis lesson. It was hot and humid, and reached a point that it was not bearable anymore and I decided to seek refuge inside the Refreshment kiosk of the Tennis Center until the lesson finished. Although there are few covered picnic tables outside but the humidity was killing me. Dorothy's tennis class had minutes break every now and then too. While we were inside the kiosk, a pussy cat just appeared from out of the blue and sat on the chair beside me. David was so happy upon seeing the cat and gave the pussy cat loving and gentle pats which were also welcome by the cat. We think that the cat is owned by the lady who runs the kiosk because he is feeling at home in the place . Because I had my camera with me, I asked David if he would like to take pictures of the cat and he said yes accompanied by a nod of his head. So here are the pictures he took.

At the Swimming party

David was invited to a swimming birthday party of one of his best friends in school last Saturday. He was so excited and can't wait for the day to come.It was held in one of the Leisure Centres in the west of Sydney. I accompanied David because hubby was working and since I had no one to look after Dorothy, I decided to take her with us. I just paid an extra charge for Dorothy at the entrance. It was our first time to be in the place and I was amazed of their great facilities. There were about 12 kids who attended the party with 2 ladies from the Leisure Centre to organize the party . They had heaps of fun all throughout the party. When the party was over, we stayed a little longer for the kids still wanted to have fun in the water. Dorothy was glad when she met two of her friends at school there. They had a great time swimming too. Here are some of the photos that I took during the party.

Camera Critters

Here is my CC post for this weekend. Pictures were taken late this morning while we were walking to the shop after my daughter's tennis lesson. It was so hot and we decided to take the short cut by cemented foot path which is shady enough because of the few trees that grow around. And while we were walking we heard bird noises and looked up to where the noises came from. Upon looking we saw this parrot which seemed she was feeding her babies. I am not sure if this is a Rosella parrot. Good thing that I had my camera with me at that time. I zoomed it to the max to get closer pictures.
