Catching up

Sometime of last week, I was glad I was able to meet up with my sister. We seldom see each other because we always tied up with family and personal commitments and most especially with our works. But from time to time we talk over the phone just to catch each other. Anyways, the place that we decided to meet is not far from where I live, but quite far from where she lives which is ok with her. We really like this place because aside from its big shopping centre, it has a few Filipino shops and cuisine. Unfortunately, the kids were not able to come with us because it was a school day. They could have enjoy catching each other too. Maybe next time, we will make it sure they can come with us.

Thursday morning

 I woke up to a cold and foggy morning on Thursday and I didn't let the moment slip by without taking photos. It was beautiful and mysterious.

Moon

 Thought to share with you the  photos of the moon which were taken the night after the full moon last week. I was outside when I noticed the moon just rising over the horizon.

Autumn colours

Grade winner

This is my daughter's entry in the Learning Neighbourhood Young Writers Competition. This year's challenging theme is "Our Neighbourhood" and she created an outstanding written composition  which has been selected to receive an award as the grade winner. Well done!

Autumn colours

 Here are some photos that I took last month when we visited Blue Mountains. When Autumn comes I love to visit the place. I love the colours of the Autumn and Blue Mountains, NSW is the best place to see it.

Fresh fruit salad

We all love fresh fruit salad and a few days ago, I went to the fruit shop to buy whatever fruits I can find that suit our budget.

Ingredients:
seedless grapes
strawberries
rock melon
watermelon
pineapple

Back to school

 The kids's two weeks school holiday had come to an end and David and Dorothy were back to school  for the second term since last Wednesday. It was  quite a busy holiday for them. David had been in school vacation care . He enjoyed being there for every day they had different kinds of activities to keep them  busy. They even went bowling, picnic and visited indoor playground and every time he came home he had lots of stories to tell us. While Dorothy was in training for her upcoming tennis tournament. For the 2 weeks she spent most of her time in the tennis court from 6;30am until 3:00pm except on Saturdays and Sundays. I haven't spent a lot of time being with them this school  holiday. Although, I was getting dayoff from work sometimes during the holiday but they were not at home and I missed them.The school holiday went so fast.

Dinner

Our dinner yesterday. baked barramundi fillet with fresh vegetable salad.

This is how I cook barramundi fillet or any fish fillet, just bake it in the oven for about 40 minutes with lemon juice, olive oil and pepper (no salt). It's quick and easy.

The Moon

While I was driving going home from the shop yesterday, I noticed the moon just  rising from the horizon. I wasn't really expecting to see a big moon and wonder when will be the full moon.  I wanted to stop and capture a few snaps but unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me. So when I arrived home , I hurriedly grabbed my pocket size camera and captured a few shots but most of them were disappointingly blurry.  I have only  two that is good enough to share with you.

Me

Just want to share with you some photos that I took today of my myself using the self-timer feaure of my Nikon camera. I don't use the self-timer feature that much  but today I felt that I needed to use it. The kids weren't with  me at this time, only hubby but he was busy looking around the place. 

Too shy

 I should post this photo in Camera Critters meme but can't wait. This was taken yesterday when we  took a drive going to northwest of Sydney and on our way to a car park a kookaburra from nowhere suddenly flew in front of the car. It was good that the car was moving slowly as we approached an empty space in the car park, otherwise we hit the kookaburra. I kept an eye on him to where it would perch, which was on a branch of a small tree. I grabbed my camera and tried to capture a few photos but he was too shy  to face my camera and just let me took one photo before it flew away again into the woods. And here is the photo that I took, we cannot even see his eyes.

Lunch

This was my lunch yesterday, satay chicken and fried rice with lemon iced tea at Norwest Shopping Mall.

Trip

I was considering  for  a quick visit  to the  Blue Mountains today after I take David to  his school vacation care.  I love to go to the Blue Moutains at this time of the year  because it is a great place to see beautiful and stunning colours of Autumn.  I love Autumn leaves and last year I headed up there by myself only. This time hubby decided to come with me because he is on holiday for 2 weeks. The place that I wanted to visit is just about 45 minutes drive. But unfortunately today, weather refuses to cooperate, the ground is soaking wet from the overnight rain and still raining this time. I have to reschedule the visit then sometime this week if weather will be fine. 

Yellow this Autumn Season

Autumn has always been my favourite season. The crisp air and the colours of the leaves make me happy.The changing of the colour of the leaves is  so beautiful.

Last Saturday

This is one of our favourite spot to visit on weekends, Nurragingy Reserve. We come here for a picnic, feeding the ducks or just taking a stroll. It was a beautiful Autumn day with blue sky

My new orchid

The other day while I was at the fruit market close to where we live, I saw a lady near the entrance of the market selling different kinds of  plants. As a  a plant lover, I thought to check out the plants before going inside the fruit market. I know prices with this kind are quite cheap compared to the prices in the plant nursery.While checking the plants,  I saw these orchids in a pot. I asked the lady how much was the price and I can't believe when she told me that it only cost $5 so, I didn't let my chance slip by and grabbed the plant.

I haven't got this kind of orchids yet and I thought it would be a great addition to my collection. The name of this orchids is brassia verrucose and it has white flowers as what the lady said to me.
Searching in the internet when I got home, I found out that the flowers look like in the photo below.

Water World Wednesday

That's my daughter having a go of a long jump off from the top of that cemented rock surface. Not sure how high is it but if you have the guts and no fear of heights, this is for you.Photo was taken in the Philippines during our recent holiday.

My niece

 I just found these old photos of my niece, Maddie, taken about 2 years ago. Isn't she cute?  She started ballet lesson when she was about 4 yrs old.  She had her big recital when these photos were taken.  She did it good and we were so proud of her.
