While we were at the car park of the shopping mall, we saw two rainbow lorikeets in the gum tree and suddenly moved to a trunk of the tree trying to get into the hole. I think they have babies or eggs in a hole.

Then one suddenly poked out its head looking at us.

Dinner

This is our dinner the other night, roasted mixed vegetables and chicken drumsticks.

Back to work

Since back to school will start on Monday next week after the long summer holiday, I am planning to go back to work on that week. I have been off from work since the school holiday started and now I think is the right time to go back to work while the kids are at school. I didn't work this school holiday because I want to stay with the kids and spend time with them while they are not in school. Even though we haven't been out much because of the weather condition but we have a great time at home. We always have something to keep us busy and occupied. David will go back to school on Monday while Dorothy will be on Tuesday.

Australia Day

It is Australia Day today, a public holiday in every state and territory and in the afternoon there was supposed to be a big Australia celebration in our place but was unfortunately cancelled due to the wet weather condition. It has been raining cats and dogs here since yesterday and the ground is soaking wet with plenty of puddles. The kids are a bit disappointed for they cannot see Justice Crew performing live again in our place. Despite this wet weather, we still had a family celebration at home with lamb and sausage barbecue. Anyway, to all Australians, have a safe and happy Australia Day!

Last night

When hubby arrived home from work at about 10:00pm I was still up and doing facebooking. He told me that he noticed that the interior light of my car was accidentally left on, (obviously a door had not been properly shut). The last time I used the car was when I took David to The Museum of Fire in Penrith, west of Sydney and came home early that afternoon. I parked the car inside the gate after the trip because I didn't plan to go out any more. Since then, I didn't check it even though I was outside the house twice thinking everything was alright with the car. I was glad that hubby noticed it before the battery will be flat. Hubby told me that when he checked it out it was the driver's door that was not properly shut., Oh dear.. I remember I was in a hurry to get inside the house when we arrived because I had to ring someone.

Dorothy's painting

Her step sister gave her a Hunter Leisure Painting by Numbers Pack which contains 1 numbered pre-drawn textured art board, 10 paints, 2 brushes and a paint holder as a Christmas present. It is great for those who love to paint and don't have the time or skills for drawing and composing a picture. The paint is acrylic and behaves in a similar way to oil paint. The difference is that it is mixed with water and is quick drying. Unlike oil paint it only takes about ten minutes to dry. Then, unlike watercolour, it can no longer be revived, mixed or cleaned up with water.
Dorothy was so excited when she got it and could not wait to do the painting. It took her a few days to finish since it has many intricate areas and small details to do. And here is her finished painting.

Fresh fruit salad

I made a fabulous fresh fruit salad yesterday. It's healthy and a great dessert. Here is what it consisted of, green apple, red apple, pear, seedless grapes, kiwi, orange, banana, apricot and a toss of pomegranate seeds for extra crunch. Yumm!

Today

I plan to take the kids to the city today but the weather is not cooperating with our plan. The day has been drizzly and dreary with no sign of blue sky. I just told the kids to postpone our plan sometime this week. I hope the weather will be ok by then. I know they are a bit disappointed about it and have no option but to wait when the right weather comes. I will just take them to watch a movie instead or visit a friend later in the day.

Wedding

Here are a few photos that I took during the wedding of my step son. He is a member of the fire brigade of NSW and works in the City. The wedding took place in a garden of Heathcote, a suburb in southern Sydney and about an hour drive from where we live.It was on a Saturday afternoon and a very beautiful day. The photo above was taken during the bride's arrival at the venue and photos below were taken during the ceremony.

Her new dress

These photos were taken before the wedding day of my step son, my husband's second son (from his previous marriage). I prepared our clothes to wear for that special occasion and found out that Dorothy need to get a new one. She is growing fast and grow out most of her clothes now.


We spent a great deal of time looking for a dress for her that suits the occasion. I found a few dresses that I like for her to wear and even let her fit them but the main problem was she didn't like my taste, especially the colours, we are very opposite, you know..hehehe.. Well, after visiting a few shops, we finally found the dress she had been looking for, it was 50% off from the regular price. I bought also a belt that match with the dress. When we got home, she tried it on her again and told me to take photos

This weekend.

I am glad I was able to book a place where we can stay for the weekend. We didn't decide until Wednesday to stay overnight in Goulburn after my husband's family get together. I was checking in the last minute deals but could not get a place. I tried to ring the Motor Inn where we normally stay every time we are in Goulburn but they are fully booked for the coming weekend. I was actually looking for a room that accommodate the four of us, (2 adults and 2 kids) and glad I found one. It is a studio cabin with air condition, double bed and bunks, fully self-contained kitchen and shower, just to name a few. We had tried staying this Caravan Park before but at that time we brought along our Camping Trailer, but this time we decided not to for it is just only this weekend that we will be there.

Last Sunday

We got a chance to go to Sydney Olympic Park for APIA International Sydney 2012 tennis tournament. It was the first day of the event so the price of the ticket wasn't that bad. The gate was opened at exactly 11:00 am but we planned to be there early before the opening time because we still had to purchase our entry tickets. When we got our tickets there was still enough time before the different tennis matches started so we walked and looked around even though it was not our first time there. We were able to watch players having their practice too.These funny guys on stilts were at the gate when we entered so we thought to get a photo with them, with me is my sister.
We were able to see M. Lucic having a practice in court # 6 and when she had her break, I kindly asked her for a picture taking.

At Nurragingy Reserve

While me and David were walking at the Reserve one weekend after days of rain, we saw this noisy myna bird taking a bath in the puddle.He didn't mind our presence watching him but we kept a good distance from him and not to scare him until he finished.
