The duck

Here's what my kids were giggling about while we were in the pond one weekend. I heard their giggles loud and clear while I was sitting on the grass after our walk. I checked it out and focused my eyes to where they were looking at. It was a Duck diving into the bottom to get a feed. I didn't know what kind of food was in the bottom of the water but surely there was something good for his tummy for we saw that he was chewing after every dive. My kids find it cute when the duck did the upside down.

Camera Critters

I saw this blue dragonfly at the backyard. I was cleaning my garden one afternoon when this creature suddenly stopped on one of my citrus plants. We always see a few dragonflies of this kind in our backyard but haven't got a chance to capture photos of them for they are so quick and too shy. But that one afternoon was a different one for I was able to meet a friendly dragonfly who wanted to pose for my camera.Interested to join or want to see more Critters from all around the world please click, here.

Dinner

This was our dinner one weekend, a serving of chicken kebabs in bbq sauce, fried rice and vegetable salad.

David's drawing

Just want to share with you one of David's drawings. He drew this one last December and told me that I can share it to my friends in the blogging world. He likes drawing and I think he is good at it. Last year, one of his drawings was exhibited in one of our local high schools. Even though he didn't win in the competition but his drawing earned some public votes and we were so proud of him. The drawing is Bart in "The Simpsons ", an animated television series, riding his skateboard.

Last Wednesday

It was Dorothy's 3rd check up in the fracture clinic in the afternoon on that day and the same as before we went earlier to the clinic to have the x-ray done before our appointment time. When the doctor checked up the result of the x-ray, he was glad to see the result. Dorothy's wrist is healing well and we are so glad too of the good news . He then told us to go to the physio to have her fibreglass cast taken out and then to go back to the clinic for another check up. It was a long wait in the physio because there were many people ahead of us. When it was finally done, we went straight back to the Fracture Clinic to have her wrist check again. The doctor told Dorothy to move her hand and Dorothy did it like normal. She is so happy that she can use her right hand again but has to avoid lifting for the first 3 weeks, which means too that she still cannot get back to her tennis lesson yet.

Today's Flowers

These are my mint flowers. I have mint growing beside our fence. I actually didn't plant them even though I love mint in fruit cocktails and for garnish. Our previous neighbor before planted mint beside the fence between our backyards and some of them grow through the fence toward our backyard. I uprooted some because they spread very quickly and it started to take over my garden. But I didn't completely get rid all of them because I use them sometimes. I just let them grow beside our fence with frequent pruning to prevent them from spreading.

Lunch

How about chips and crumbed chicken schnitzel for lunch? Well, last Tuesday since hubby was having his day off, we decided to look around for a new computer. It has been a long time that we were planning to get a new one and last Tuesday was our great chance to look around while the kids were at school. We finally found what we exactly looking for at a good price after visiting a few computer shops. But when we were about to head back home, I started to feel hungry and my tummy started to growl, we actually didn't realize the time. It was already past midday so we decided to drop by at a coffee shop nearby and ordered what we fancy. I chose chips and crumbed chicken with a cappuccino while hubby chose a Turkish bread sandwich with flat white coffee.

Sky Watch Friday

We have gray skies this week with on and off showers so I was planning to check out my albums for photos for this week's SWF post but when we arrived from our shopping yesterday, the sky was partly covered with a few clouds after a brief shower and I even had a glimpse of the moon rising from the horizon. David

I took David to his Taekwondo lesson last Friday, his first attendance for this term. He missed the first day of the lesson which was the other Friday because it was too hot at that time and I didn't want to take David there even though we were taking the car and the venue is well ventilated. I was afraid of the thought that he might have nose bleeding again because of the hot day so I decided that we just stayed at home instead. His lesson is after school hours, the same as last year and held in the same venue, the Community Hall close to where we live.
He had such a great time last Friday and was happy to see his friends again. There are new kids in the lesson too who are younger than David and I think this is going to be more exciting this year for them for there are more kids now in the group.

Watery Wednesday

Here is my Watery Wednesday post. It was raining last Saturday and it gave me a great opportunity to go outside to capture a photo for this week's watery challenge. These are the flowers of my mini red rose which I planted in a pot.

While grilling

Our smoke alarm wailed for I forgot to on our exhaust fan in the kitchen. I was grilling chicken kebabs for dinner and a faint smoke trapped around the kitchen because the exhaust fan wasn't on and all the windows and doors were closed. It is sensitive and loud enough. But I did a quick solution by opening the kitchen widows, flicked on the switch of the kitchen exhaust fan and even trying to disperse the smoke around the alarm by waving a kitchen towel on it and glad it stopped.

Since it is Valentine's Day , my post for this week's Today's Flowers are these red roses that I saw while me and my kids took a walk in going to their school. The school is not that far from where we live and most of the time we just take a walk in going there which gives me also an opportunity to see the beautiful gardens and flowers in the neighborhood.Happy Valentine's Day !

We saw this skink while we were visiting the Japanese Garden. I am not sure what type of skink this is as there are over 370 species of skink in Australia.

Wet weekend

It was such a great relief when I heard that the weather forecast for this weekend is rainy, even though, me and my friend planned something for this weekend and obviously, it would not be happening due to the wet weather. We decided to move our plan on the next weekend though, with hopes that weather will be cooperating by then. We really need this rain after those scorching temperatures from the past days. I have had enough of the hot weather and I don't want anymore. My plants are not looking happy too even if I keep on watering them everyday.

One of the plants that got the worst hit of the hot weather is my big fern plant. The leaves were badly damaged and burnt by the sun. I placed a hose on the roots of this plant with constant small drips of water just to keep it moist all the time and survive the heat even if the leaves would be badly damaged. It was been real hot and most of my plants outside were affected with their leaves got partly burnt too.

At the mall

I am sharing with you some photos I took while we were at the mall with my sister and her daughter. The mall is about 15 minutes drive from where we live and close to the train station. Since my sister and her daughter were catching a train on that day, the mall was more convenient for us. We agreed to meet before lunch time and after our lunch, we gave a few rides to the kids on those 2$ rides in the mall and had a look around afterward.

At Burragorang Lookout

Breathtaking views of Lake Burragorang, the Nattai Wilderness and the distant Blue Mountains from Burragorang Lookout in the Burragorang State Conservation Area, about 80 km south- west of Sydney.

Ruby Tuesday

Photos were taken during the traditional Chinese New Year Markets held at Belmore Park in Sydney CBD the other Sunday. The Chinese New Year Markets is usually held at the start of the Sydney Chinese New Year Festival, Jan 28-30. I didn't get a chance to wander around longer since our destination on that day was the Australian National Maritime Museum and the kids were so excited to get to our destination. Since we caught a train to Central Station and walked down from there through Belmore Park going to Darling Harbour where the ANMM is located, it gave me an opportunity to take some few photos.One of the market stalls.
