My chokos

I have plenty of choko fruits, (otherwise known as sayote or pear squash) this time. I have been growing chokos for many years and this time I am very pleased of its fruits. Yes, I have many this time compared to the previous years. And last Monday, I gave a bag to my friend and this coming weekend, I invited another friend for a visit so she can pick chokos to take home. I love choko (fruit) in soups, stir- fry or simply bake them. My kids don't like it that much but every time we have it on meal time, I don't forget to put a little piece on their plate and glad they just don't ignore it but eat it.

Watery Wednesday

This time I am going to share with you pictures which were taken by my eldest sister last weekend during her visit to my hometown, an island in the Northern part of Cebu Province. Cebu is about 45 minutes by plane from the City of Manila, Philippines.

One of the popular attractions and the most visited caves in the island is the Bukilat Cave, located in Barangay McArthur about 5 km from the main town of Tudela. It has a pool of cool crystal clear water inside where you can take a dip and relax while enjoying the beauty of nature. The water is a seawater as this is located less than a km from a beach. It is best to visit there during high tide because the pool gets enough water for bathing. And one more thing, the cave has natural lighting that gets in through gaps in the roof part of the cave making the inside not so gloomy and dark. Ruby Tuesday

This is one of the playgrounds in the Reserve close to where we live. I took my little boy here the other Sunday to have a play with other kids after we took a walk in the reserve. My daughter didn't come with us because she was invited by a friend for a visit.

I am sharing this post with Ruby Tuesday.

Just after the rain

I captured this image a few weeks ago after a heavy rain. I went out to the backyard with my pocket size camera in hand even if the ground was still wet. I just wanted to capture whatever caught my fancy and here is one of the few images I captured on that afternoon.
"There is sunshine after the rain"

Today's Flowers

I can't believe it's May already. How time flies so quickly! Anyhow, here is my Today's flowers post for this week. This is my orchid called, Zygopetalum. It is in season at this time of the year. It has been quite awhile since I have this orchid which I bought from a fund raising one weekend in our place, and every year it never failed to bloom. What I really like with this orchid are, the flowers have beautiful fragrance and they are long lasting too.Interested to join in or want to see beautiful flowers around the world please visit here.

Camera Critters

Photos were taken last April 17, 2011 when I took my son to the Reserve close to where we live. While we were walking, we saw 4 galahs busily looking for food (seeds of grasses on the ground).

The Galah, Eolophus roseicapilla, also known as the Rose-breasted Cockatoo, Galah Cockatoo, Roseate Cockatoo or Pink and Grey, is one of the most common and widespread cockatoos, and it can be found in open country in almost all parts of mainland Australia. (source: wikipedia)

Tomorrow

I was planning to take the kids tomorrow somewhere because we haven't been out much during the school holiday for we were all sick with cough and cold, and also because of the wet weather. But hubby rang me at lunch time while he was at work today reminding me of the invitation of his friend at work tomorrow, ( his friend has invited us to a barbecue lunch which will be held at his residence.) I never thought about it actually for I was thinking it will be the next Sunday. Oh, well, I will just move the plan of taking the kids out the next Sunday and hope it will not be raining again tomorrow.

This morning

When David and I were about to go to school my car didn't start up. What a bad timing, because it was raining and absolutely soaking wet. It was raining since Monday and according to the weather forecast this weather will be until the weekend. I realised what was wrong with the car right away, the battery had gone flat because I didn't use the car for a few days and I forgot to completely turn it off by pressing a button (not sure of its name) near the key ignition. I wasn't really happy and I want to kick myself off for my carelessness. I just told David that we need to walk in going to school, he was a bit disappointed though, but there was nothing we can do as there was no other option. The school is not that far from where we live anyway, only about 2 blocks away. When we started walking, the rain started to dissipate. I had to wait for hubby to come home after his morning shift to do the charging of the battery which will take a while. I was glad I was able to go to the mall this morning by taking a bus to get a few things we need.
