Not feeling well

I had been sick with the virus that has been going on around here. I had runny/stuffy nose, sore throat, sneezing and a bit of a headache, cold like symptoms so to speak. I am glad the kids are not that sick only occasional coughs and sneezes.
With all that, I wasn't able to stay much longer in the computer. My runny nose was annoying and my eyes were a bit watery. For 2 nights, I hadn't had that much sleep and felt tired through the day.
I relied only on natural remedies, by drinking chamomile tea with fresh lemon juice and honey and increased my liquids intake as well. I don't normally seek medical medications at times like this when I have cold like symptoms. Thankfully, I am feeling a lot better now.

Camera Critters- Leaf or Stick Insects

Here are my Camera Critters, they are called Phasmids (Leaf or Stick Insects: Order Phasmatodea) that eat leaves and resemble leaves or sticks. They are usually green or brown but many reveal brightly coloured underwings when they fly. They have developed many unusual shapes to camouflage themselves to avoid detection by predators. The order Phasmatodea includes the longest insects in the world.
Pictures were taken during our visit to Sydney Wildlife World in Darling Harbour sometimes last October of last year.

Last Monday

We decided to take a walk last Monday to a nearby park. The park is in Prospect Reservoir, a dam located in Prospect Creek, approximately 35 kilometers west of Sydney and about 15 minutes drive from where we live. The kids were so excited as they can again do their favourite recreation , riding the scooter for David and roller skating for Dorothy. These are the things they always want to do every time we go out to a park. That's why we always consider a suitable and a safe place where they can do all those things. This park is perfect for these activities for it has a long cemented bike path going towards the other side of the town with lowest traffic of bikers . The park is opened everyday of the year with BBQ facilities, children's playgrounds and toilets and viewing area.Below is a portion of the dam shimmering in the sunlight. This dam was completed on 1888 and was the first earth fill embankment dam in Australia

Today's flowers

Here's my entry for this week, a wildflower that I saw during our fishing trip to Cottage Point, located in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park approximately 50 minutes drive North from Sydney's CBD. I googled this flower and found out that its common name is Spreading Wattle. And here is the General Description:
Acacia genistifolia is a small to medium shrub which may reach 3 metres in height. Like most members of the genus, the mature plant does not have true leaves but has leaf-like flattened stems called phyllodes. In A.genistifolia the phyllodes are narrow and rigid, about 15-30 mm long with a sharp point. The cream or pale yellow flowers occur in globular-shaped clusters from the axils of the phyllodes. Flowering may occur over a long period from late summer to spring.

For Easter Celebration

I am glad we had finished shopping for our Easter chocolate eggs/bunnies earlier yesterday. The shops were opened the whole day yesterday after the Good Friday closure and most of them were having sale on Easter items. Many people decided to take advantage of the sale making most of the shops jam packed with shoppers. There were also people rushing in to get the things they needed after the Good Friday and for the rest of the Easter long weekend. We have a long weekend holiday from Good Friday until Monday. Most establishments will be back to business as normal on Tuesday.

Every Easter Sunday we always have a family get together with hubby's family and my family with great foods and fun for everyone. But this Easter our celebration is a different one for we decided to have it on the next Sunday instead, for this is the best time that suits everyone's schedule. We usually host this celebration but because our back room where we usually hold the celebration is not ready yet for habitation. ( It's under going a repair which is not finish yet this time.) Good thing that my hubby's eldest daughter volunteered to have the Easter celebration at their residence. The kids are getting excited now and can't wait for the Easter egg hunt and the exchanging of Easter eggs/bunnies among the family members.Have a Blessed Easter ! I hope you have a great Easter celebration with your love ones.

Camera Critters

It's camera critters time and here's my entry. These were taken during the Blacktown City Festival sometime last February 2010. A popular spot for the young and the young at heart was the Ronda Hall Animal Farm Nursery. They had many animals during the show and they gave the kids a chance to groom, feed and care for a great variety of animals. To see more Critters from all around the world please click, here.

For Easter Hat Parade

Every year the school where my kids are in organizes Easter Hat Parade to celebrate the Easter Season. It will be this coming Thursday which is also the last day of the 1st school term.
I went out earlier today because I had an appointment and after I finished with it, I went to the shops to get things for the kids Easter Hat Parade. I just bought few things to add a new fancy look for their hats. They have been using their hats for years now and every year we just do a little changes in the look of the hat to make it a bit different from the previous years. Dorothy always decorates her own hat herself while I help with David. The school always encourages the kids to make a hat at home and bring it to the school on the day of the parade which is also a great chance for them to be discovered for their creative talents. So here are what Dorothy and David have in store for the Easter Hat Parade.
