We saw this laughing kookaburra perching in a tree while we were at the venue of my son's Taekwondo grading session one weekend up in the Blue Mountains. We arrived early at the venue which gave us an opportunity to wander around for awhile before the session began.

The Laughing Kookaburra is not really laughing when it makes its familiar call. The cackle of the Laughing Kookaburra is actually a territorial call to warn other birds to stay away.

Great shots :) I'm not sure if I've seen a kookaburra before. Of course, we've all heard the song.

Love it! My class is studying birds this year throughout our science course. :)
I love kookaburras, too, and am grateful to have been able to see them in Australia many years ago.
