The other Sunday

I got the chance to play with my other camera at the backyard. I seldom use it and on that day was a great chance for me to get familiar with its buttons. There was nothing interesting to take photos of except the clouds that building up in the south side. The weather forecast said that rains will be expected late in the afternoon. And yes, it did rain briefly and we even heard thunders from a distant later. There was a rainbow too but unfortunately I was not able to capture it for I went inside after capturing few shots of the clouds.

Today's flowers

Spring is just around the corner and our neighbor's magnolia is blooming. I just noticed it sometime last week when I took a walk one morning around our neighborhood. I was at their driveway when I took these pictures. It seemed no one in the house at that time to ask permission to get inside their yard for a close up picture.

It is guava time...

We are fortunate enough that when we bought the house two guava trees are growing and thriving at the backyard already. It was like an added bonus to us. I believe the previous owner was like me who loves guava too. Since we moved here last 1998 it never stop giving us fruits. The kids love it too. There's a lot of them every season and we always cannot consume all of them and the fruit bats are starting to feast them this time, so I share some to my friends. The fruits are not that big unlike the previous years, yet they still taste sweet, crunchy and juicy.

Galah

Here's my Camera Critters post. These were taken while we were taking a walk in Rouse Hill Regional Park, 45 km north- west of Sydney last weekend. They are called galah. The Galah can be easily identified by its rose-pink head, neck and underparts, with paler pink crown, and grey back, wings and undertail. Birds from the west of Australia have comparatively paler plumage. Galahs have a bouncing acrobatic flight, but spend much of the day sheltering from heat in the foliage of trees and shrubs. Huge noisy flocks of birds congregate and roost together at night.
The Galah is one of the most abundant and familiar of the Australian parrots, occurring over most of Australia, including some offshore islands. (source:http://birdsinbackyards.net/ )

David's Artwork

His artwork as well as some of the students' artworks from his school were chosen by the school to be exhibited during the "Art on the Hill " Night at one of our local High School here. It was participated by some of the local schools. David was so excited for the night as that was his first time to be in the exhibit. He was so proud of his artwork and can't wait for the night to come. He even kept on asking me when are we going to go to the exhibit. We were all excited too and I made it sure that we didn't have anything on for the night so we would be able to come.

Watery Wednesday

These pictures were taken by my sister during their visit to the Philippines last year . This small waterfall is located in my hometown and about 20 minutes walk from the town proper. It is clean and well maintained by the municipality .You can even make a splash in the fresh cold water for free. Please visit Watery Wednesday for more watery sites all around the world.

Our snack yesterday

Here is our snack yesterday. I bought a plain sponge cake slab from the grocery shop, sliced it into cubes, topped with whipped cream and strawberry jam.

Ruby Tuesday

Time for another Ruby Tuesday and here is my post. Picture was taken by yours truly while we were walking from Circular Quay going to the Opera House.
The Oz jet boat is Sydney's best known jet boat thrill ride and is certainly a most popular attraction close to the Opera House on Circular Quay.Thrill seekers enjoy a 30 minute ride out on the Sydney Harbour where they experience power brake stops, spins, turns and sideways slide that will give the biggest adrenaline junkie a big buzz. Visit to the Park

Last weekend, we took the kids to Rouse Hill Regional Park, about 20 minutes drive from where we live, and 45 km north-west of Sydney. It is a large regional park originally owned by the Deerubbin People and later the Rouse family, pioneers of the area. The park offers excellent picnic facilities, several children's playgrounds, walking tracks, cycling and rollerblading track and a horse riding circuit. Here are some of the pictures that I took on that day. It was windy and cold .
