Ruby Tuesday

We went to Darling Harbour last Saturday so I took the opportunity to take some photos. The picture below is just a part of the temporary play area at the southern end of the Darling Harbour. The old playground had been closed since March and the construction of a new playground is on going and expected to finish on 2011.

Friends Visit

We were full house last Friday, a friend of Dorothy came over for a sleep over and our friends from the North Coast were also here to spend a few days holiday with us. It was nice to see them once again and the kids were so excited of their visit. We had a lot of catching up to do since the last time we saw them. We can spend the whole night talking if we want to but the thing that we were planning to go to the city the following day, we call it a night and decided to go to bed at the strike of 12:00 midnight. I know it was late but can't help it, we talked non stop of the updates from our hometown.
My friend married one of my hubby's friends and they are blessed with 3 wonderful kids, the youngest are twins who are younger than David by 1 yr, while her eldest is younger than Dorothy by 1 yr. We grew up in the same island in the Philippines. Once or twice a year they pay a visit to us and we do vice versa.
And here are what I cooked for our dinner on that night, meat balls and mince cottage pie with rice or vegetables salad.

School Holiday Tennis Clinic

It is school holiday here once again for 2 weeks and this school holiday Dorothy joins the School Holiday Tennis Clinic organized by the Tennis School where she is in. Since Dorothy haven't been involved in a School Holiday Tennis Clinic before while she is taking a tennis lesson for a year now, we booked her for one week this school holiday for 3 hours every day. She decided to join this school holiday for the first time just to gain additional practice during the school holidays in a fun filled environment. The clinic is consist of coaching, fun games, match play and tournaments. It is held in a different tennis venue which is a farther drive away from her tennis lesson venue and she enjoys the clinic immensely. The pictures were taken at court 3(Dorothy is in green top). It was drizzling and seemed nobody care.:)

Dorothy's red chair

Her old desk chair was in the verge of retiring and there's no way that both me and hubby can spend a great deal of time fixing it. She definitely needed a new one. We went to a shop to look for a desk chair that is suitable and comfortable for both her and our pocket. After spending a while looking in the shop, we came up to this red chair completely opposite to her old one which was black. She really likes it. Last Sunday

It was a glorious winter day and we were grateful about it. Not that we had plan to go somewhere else for the day but because it gave us an opportunity to do something worthwhile both outside and inside the house and so we used every minute of it. Me and David busied ourselves at the backyard raking some of the dried leaves which were left unattended after days of rain and did some cutting of our plants. While hubby did the clean up routine of our big fish tank. He took the empty small tank outside and cleaned it too using the water hose and washed the gravel and decorations as well. Dorothy was in charged of the kitchen, washing the dishes and cleaning the bench top and after doing her job her Dad took her out to visit her friend who lives just one block away from us.
While taking a glimpse of the sky, we saw these beautiful cloud formations. I can't resist but to quickly get inside and grab my camera for you to share.

Our first scones

We all love scones and to satisfy our craving, I purchased a box of scone mix from the grocery to make it more quick and easy to make. I just added the required milk to the ingredients, followed the rest of the procedures and popped in to the oven for about 15 minutes. They turned out beautifully and tasted great filled with strawberry jam.Dorothy helped me with the cutting and since we don't have a pastry cutter we just used the lid of our small salt container, that's why they ended up these shapes.
