Helping an old lady

While walking going to the school one afternoon to pick up my kids I saw an old lady sagged on the foot path leading to her house and beside her was 2 big rubbish bins. HELP with a gesture of her hand to come to her was all I heard. I hurriedly went to check and asked if she was alright. Looking so tired and pale, she didn't bother to answer me so I checked and tried to piece out what was really happened. Then, the sight of blood on the foot path right beside her frightened me. My speculation confirmed that she had a fall and knocked the left side of her head, which was partly covered with blood. It had a deep cut and quite big. I wondered for how long she had been there waiting for someone to help her. I ran across the road to the people who were in the process of building a house and asked for help to ring the ambulance because I didn't have my mobile phone with me at that moment that I needed it the most. I went back to where the old lady was and glad I saw a car moving out from the driveway of the house next to the lady's house and tried to stop the driver who hurriedly scrambled out of her car upon knowing what was happening and decided to ring the old lady's daughter right away. Then a young guy from the construction site came over and rang the ambulance. He was really nice and even asked the people in the hospital what to do while waiting for the ambulance for the lady was losing a lot of blood. Per the hospital advice, we put a damp cloth to where the cut was and applied a little pressure on it and let the lady lay down with her head on two pillows which I took from her house to make her more comfortable. I noticed that black ants started to gather around her, maybe it was because of the smell of the blood that attracted them. I stayed there until the ambulance arrived after about 15 minutes from the time the young guy rang them and the old lady's son arrived thereafter. She was admitted in the hospital as far as I know and I hope she is doing fine now. I haven't had any news about her since then.

A creek

This was taken during our holiday to the North Coast of NSW. We were in Spooney beach swimming and had fun in the sand with friends when I spotted this Creek nearby. The water is so clear and flows towards the sea.

I am linking this post to Watery Wednesday.

Ruby Tuesday

This is a people mover train in Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney. I am not sure how much is the charge taking a ride on this trackless train but this is a great and convenient way if you are planning to get all around the 74 acres gardens.

David's new haircut

I decided to cut David's hair last Friday. His hair is growing quickly and needs to be trim every now and then. This was not the first time I cut his hair. Ever since he was little, I used to cut his hair myself and he is always happy with the result. The last time I took him to the hairdresser to have his hair done but since we didn't do anything last Friday afternoon, I asked him if he would like to have his hair cut done by me and he said a big yes. He always loves when mommy does it. Dorothy said he looks different but cute and hubby likes it too.

Today's flowers

These are my orchids. I have a small collection and some are blooming this time. Most of them were bought from a friend who is selling plants for a fund raising. The latest orchids that I got haven't bloomed yet but I hope next year they will show us their pretty flowers.
Have a great week!

Camera Critters

Here is my camera critter post. Pictures were taken on different days at the front yard. These birds are called noisy miners. They are the constant visitors of my grevillea plant . I purposely planted the grevillea in the garden near the driveway to attract native birds. But so far I have seen only one kind that gets attracted to it.

Noodles for lunch

Since it was raining on and off today, me and the kids didn't go out. We didn't feel like going out with this kind of weather. The kids were just happy to be at home playing with each other, watching tv and sometimes play games in the computer. Me on the other hand, busied myself cleaning the house as well as the guinea pig's hutch. I was glad I finished everything before lunch time and the thought of a Filipino food for lunch was so appealing. Hubby was working until 8:00 pm tonight, so it is only us at home. Wasting no time, I prepared the ingredients for my Filipino noodles. It was good that I still had a pack of rice sticks from the last time I cooked noodles. I sliced piece of pork into small pieces, garlic and onions. Upon checking my vegetables bin in the fridge, I was lucky I had still cabbage as well as carrots to add in the ingredients. We haven't done our weekly vegetables shopping yet, so I thought I will just use whatever is available in the kitchen that takes my fancy. With only those ingredients, nonetheless my noodles still tasted good.
